Anyone familiar with how this works out. Found a guy who does this not too far from the house. He advertises on another local forum I visit. Called him and may get him to do some work, but wanted to know if anyone here has had it done and what the opinion was. Yay or nay, worth the money or not.
I have plans to rattle can a couple of things, but I just can't make myself paint my SX3, so I was considering this. Thanks !

I have a few of my rifles and hand guns cerrakoted. It is an extremely durable finish. It is a great way to change the color of your gun completely or to do a permanent pattern if you like. I have a number of rattle can jobs as well. The good thing about rattle can is you can constantly change/touch up the paint but it really doesnt hold up well at all. Here are similar cerakote jobs I've done to a couple of my Noveskes.

Next time I am in town CJS you will have to show me ;)

Wow, those look nice CJS, really nice. Since you've had experience with both, do you think doing a ceracote single color and then overlaying a camo pattern with alternating rattle colors would work ?
I ask because I can get the weapon done in single color a lot cheaper than three or four color pattern. Maybe I could use the single base color and rattle over it ? Just curious.
Thanks for the pics and reply. Love those rifles.

I was a certified applicator for over a year and did it professionally. My preference is to coat the gun in MagPul FDE and Krylon over that to match my AO.
I use to tell people it's not "hard chrome in pretty colors" but it's the toughest paint you can get. Prepping is the whole key to Cerakote, their website has good info on how to do it.

Yes that is the way to go. As USMC0331 said go with a FDE or similar color as your base then use rattle can to match your AO. If you have a certified cerakote applicator doing the work they should be good about the prep work. That is the key to the whole job.

If you "mess" it up just clean it off with any non-clorinated brake cleaner and start again......it the beauty of the rattle can job. The brake cleaner wont effect your cerakote at all.
