Tomahawk
« on: February 07, 2014, 12:46:04 PM »
I would like to add a tomahawk to my list of tools, what I'm looking is it has to reasonably priced, good quality, will last a long time and it can take a beating. Also I don't care if it's a tactical tomahawk or whatever it may be.

Here is a picture of the hawk I use in my kit.

I have no illusion that I will use it in a fight. I use it for bush craft and "woods walks" exclusively. Mine is currently on the kitchen counter, standing up behind the dish rack at the cabin. I just used it to crack pork shop bones after cooking a roast.

I got no plans on using my tomahawk in battle unless it calls for it, I'm only going to use it for camping, chopping wood etc.

Crudos  :lmfao: Not to far from the fact though. But as you can see by my attachment, I have a bit more meat on my bones and obviously a bit more hansom.

I've always been very leary of the actual usefulness of a tomahawk.. I find them to be too light with far too narrow of a blade.

Now the Estwing Rigger's Axe.. Now that's a tool!

But there is so much that goes into making use of an axe or a hatchet. If you're not gonna learn the old ways all you're gonna do is lop off fingers and toes. ;)

I have one of the attached pic.  It works well but I cannot find a full link to it so you can get one.  I searched long and hard (just the way I am I guess) and decided on the Browning model.

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

God created Man, Col. Sam Colt made him equal, John Moses Browning turned equality to perfection, Gaston Glock turned perfection into plastic fantastic junk.

I vote for getting a Gurkha Khukri. It can do anything a tomohawk, machete, and knife can do. As for combat.. if the stories are true Gurkha warriors would silently take out sentries in World War 2 by beheading them.

CRKT has an awesome tomahawk that some swore by. Has a full tang so it's heavier but also stronger. I just can't get myself to spend the money for a high quality one.
