I want it.

Ares Defense Systems 'made' the Shrike 5.56 system, which was virtually the same thing. However, they took a whole bunch of deposits and only delivered a handful years and years later.

Sorry all, RON L here,

Can't go with ya all onthis one? I remember the Stoner system that had a Belt Fed Option, we then had M-60 and M-60E  and the difference in performance of the stoner in 223 and the M-60 and others in 308 made me never realy consider the 223 inthat role? I understand pairing it up with 223 M-4 and M-16A2 Systems but NOT FOR ME! You all Go on and enjoy it, this one, I SHALL PASS ON!  :(

The Stoner Model 63/XM-22

Never widely adopted due to many contributing factors.

A more modern design around the same concept is the IMI Negev LMG.

The Stoner LMG, is IMO, the finest beltfed S.A.W. I've ever had the chance to experience. Hands down.
I've got a 240B and 249Para at my disposal, Really wish I had a LMG.

That said, I've been involved in converting a Robinson M96 into a beltfed using some heavily modified LMG parts.
That was pretty cool too. Robinson didn't want to sell the M96 they discontinued and we didn't want to sell
plans for the beltfed conversion. It was and still is a standoff. They couldn't ever get a conversion to run.
I think they're mad 'bout that.

I dunno man... I think it was very forward thinking for the time period but I wouldn't call it the, 'best'. I tend to think people hold it in high praise for the wrong reasons (like the Johnson rifle). If we could go back in time and give it ten years of service, I'm sure I'd be singing a different tune.

Standoff? With Robinson? Say it isn't so....  :))
