Baofeng Radio Pouches!
« on: November 28, 2016, 08:43:33 AM »
We just released a radio pouch currently offered to fit the Baofeng UV-82 but VERY soon there will be an option for the UV-5R.

Other radio compatibility is available upon request. I would just need radio model and dimensions.

I've been looking for pouch/carriers for the U5-5R type radios with the longer battery.  Neither of those links works anymore.  I found 1 on amazon designed for the longer battery, but it's not really what I'm wanting.  Anyone else know who might have some more options?

I've used some military surplus pouches that have worked for the Baofengs.  They're sometimes advertised as cellphone pouches.  As far as specific brands, I've used Maxpedition and Blackhawk, and several unbranded products.  Your best bet might be to go to a hamfest, since you could check the fit of the radio in the pouch.  Optics Planet ( https://www.opticsplanet.com/radio-holders.html ) has a wide variety of pouches that should meet your needs.

Look at the Burro mag pouch be Snake Eater Tactical.  It has been working out as a decent Radio pouch. I just add a small shock cord retainer.

I considered using a radio pouch for my Baofeng UV5R's and all of the one's that were the right size and shape cost about half as much as the radio did. I gave up. It just didn't seem to make economic sense. If its not raining, I clip it to the outside of my pocket or Molly Backpack. If its raining, I clip it to my pocket with the radio on the inside of my pocket. Since the wife and I are both Hams, she drops hers in her pocketbook and I clip mine to my fanny pack. Whenever we are our of sight of each other, we turn them on and operate simplex. Both of the one's we daily carry are CAMO and have the oversize CAMO batteries. Yep, we both carry an extra battery at all times. We do that because we sometimes forget to turn them off and being caught with a dead battery is horrible.

I've been scouring amazon.  Found a couple I might like, but of course the one I like best looks like it would only fit the shorter batts.

I could also just get something like one of these too, maybe use it in addition to a less water resistant carrier.

Possibly like these.

I've also considered these vests as some of them are pretty low priced, but I really don't to be "that guy" (douche)  :gasMask: anytime I want to carry my radio around.   :DrillSgt:

The last one that is sort of a minimalist one is probably the least obnoxious one is of course the most expensive one.  :(  Almost the price of 2 of the 5 watt dual-band variety.  :o
