That fellow isn't far off the mark. The people out in the country are going to have it a little bit better than the City folks. It is a good idea to get to know the local Sheriff and even a few Deputies to see just what they are like. It doesn't take long to get a read on somebody and failure to do that is a big mistake. Our County Sheriff seems to be a pretty straight guy and I've discussed Prepping with him. Did I tell him all the things I have? Hell no. I'm not that stupid. I discussed more about what he needs to do because the SHTF thing definitely is going to happen eventually and he should be ready for it. He said that his brother has been after him for a while about the same prepping issue. Getting to know the local law enforcement people can work to your advantage. If they know who you are and what you're all about, then when you call and need something, they are not concerned about being ambushed by some crazy prepper lunatic. Hell, they might actually come if you need them.
