John Mosby Class

Anyone here taken any classes from John Mosby?

My brother and I took his vehicle patrol class and were VERY impressed.

Very good instructor - knowledgeable, communicates very well and clearly: good guy.

Just curious if anyone has taken some of his other classes

I took John's vehicle patrol class a while back and it was great stuff I thought. Most of his classes are in the Rockies and west it seems. I've been communicating with him about hosting a class here in Ohio. Would there be much interest from folks here if that was to happen?  Vehicle patrol would be nice but challenging to set up. He normally doesn't do that open enrollment. Perhaps we could convince him to do it if the attendees had some prior experience from another trainer that meets John's approval. That one is also more challenging from a logistics standpoint. Not many ranges that you can drive onto and shoot from a vehicle. Hell, lot of them won't even let you draw from a holster, let alone do that. I'm up for trying if there's interest here though. Another one I've thought about hosting is his clandestine pistol class. That one has a lot easier logistics involved and he normally does it open enrollment. Anyone interested in that class if it was in NE Ohio?

Website link?  More details on him?  Where, cost, etc.

In the John Singleton Mosby bloodline, aka Grey Ghost of the War of Northern Aggression?  That by itself would be good creds for me.

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

God created Man, Col. Sam Colt made him equal, John Moses Browning turned equality to perfection, Gaston Glock turned perfection into plastic fantastic junk.

I would drive out to NE Ohio for  a class and know others that would likely carpool with me.

Also spoke to a local who has access to 100 acres if he might host and he was open to thinking about it.
That is in North VA so we could combine the VA folks with the Ohio folks for a large and effective training class.

Nemo: "Mosby" is a nom-de-guerre after the grey ghost.. as you correctly surmised. He is very well respected in patriot circles as a highly qualified Light Infantry trainer who adapts his curriculum to the needs to the armed civilian/1st Defender/Prepper etc

However this is hearsay for me as i have not taken one of his classes

Either NE Ohio or VA would work out. Ive been out to Southington Hunt Club in Garretsville OH for a few different classes.  Dale's place is great and has nothing but space. It is an old silica quary that he has set up for shooting and 4 wheeling.  One of the few places we were able to drive and shoot from the vehicles, not just around them.

I would definitely be in for a Moseby class.

Sounds like Dale's place might be better than the property we have here.

I talked to Dale about it and he's open to the idea. SHC is only about 25 min from me. As Chris points out, it's an ideal location for a vehicle class.

Mmmmmm. You got me thinking. I would be up to doing a vehicle class. The only classes I have taken so far were at the MVT facility. TC3, and two Combat rifle manipulation classes.

I think you are in the same boat as most of us.
Most have taken a couple tactics classes such as MVT and the mainstream carbine classes which are mostly rifle manipulation classes.

Thats why I think a vehicle class is so valuable because in the real world we do SO much in vehicles and in some ways it is one of our most vulnerable times since our bodies are stuck ( at least for a moment) behind the thin skinned vehicle

You just hit the nail on the head. It is great to train for the worst and to be proficient at patrolling, small unit tactics, etc., but lets face it we all spend a significant amount of time in our vehicles.  Training in and around vehicles and truly understanding their environment should be important to all of us everyday, not just in shtf situations.

Not to take away from Moseby's class as I am very interested in taking one, but also look at VCQB by Will Petty of 88 Tactical. What Will teaches is really a lot more of a problem solving class rather than a "shooting" class. Most of the 1st day of the 3 day class was ballistics and how vehicles effect the various bullets. Most of day 3 is force on force with sims. Really brings how how short and intense situations around vehicles are. It was designed for LEOs but he does a number of open enrollment classes a year. If you can get the time I couldnt suggest Will's class enough.

I hope this Moseby class comes together. Besides Petty, I have taken classes from Aaron Cowen(Sage Dynamics), Chris Costa and Weaponcraft.  I would really like to get the opportunity to try out Mosebys training. I also havnt been to any MVT classes yet, but am planning to in the upcoming year.
