All i need for it now is a light and a eotech. I'm gonna buy the light this weekend.
Yes i know my color scheme is fucked right now. After i get my light i'm going to re paint it.
-
Good looking rifle brother. You gonna paint it that Flecktarn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flecktarn)? That would be Flecktarded!
-
you will be shunned from the ar community FOREVER for painting you black rifle that is blastphimy!

lol
My rifles are workhorses not safe queens.

Na the tiger stripe-ish camo i got going on the receivers.
what's so bad about flecktarn?
-
There is nothing wrong with it if it works in your area, it flecktastic!
But really, I was looking at the shrapnel catcher behind it thinking how great that would look on the rifle.
-
I agree. Flecktarn the shit out of it bro.
I've always had a soft spot for german stuff though. ::)
-
I upgraded that shrapnel catcher with some IIa armor and and k-30. It's a bit of a weird setup but it works ok. I only have 120-140 into it.
Flecktarn would look cool but it be a fuckload of work for spray paint. Maybe when i get some duracoat i'll do it.
rvr: flecktarn would be my primary camo if i could get ahold of a few new sets. But i'm already invested in tiger stripe so that's what i'm using for now.
-
You could get cut vinyl stickers to use as stencils, or you could cut your own with a soldering iron and a piece of thin plastic. I've used chest x-rays, cello transparency films and those cheap shit nylon cutting boards to great success.
As to the vest, dude they are great for what they are put plates in them and they get better.
If it works who gives a toss?
-
I know it wouldn't be hard to do but i don't want to put that effort into a spraypaint finish.
The tiger stripe is real easy for me to do, I literally did it in a mud pit with only a rattle can.
As far as the armour I plan on getting a legit carrier and some plates when i get the funds.

bich you dont need an eotech, but id sure like to have one...
-
Looking good V0dka!
Maybe we should have a AK/AR camo party! Everybody would bring their item to be camo'd, some beer, steak and cans of camo spray paint. Then go to it between burning steaks and shooting at some empty beer cans.
Just thinking....
-
That be awesome if that was a thing. But could you imagine all the drunk paint jobs you'd see in the gun shops if everyone did that?

exactly.

And that is why we love you Johny, you've got a way to make every event a party!
I love it.
p.s. you don't need no fucking eotech, get a real rear sight for your rifle.
-
A troy diaoptic trituim rear isn't a real site?
-
I nver could understand why dudes swore by fixed knives and folding sights....

I like something like this. It's rugged and chunky. You can still run optics in a co-witness as there is still plenty of rail estate.
The length of the guards on the sight make of easy use in the glaring sunshine too.
-
maybe when i get the money. I have to figure out a way to use the aperture i like with that.
a eotech xeps-3-0 is my goal to get mounted on there.. You have a clear advantage with it.
-
Until you have to send it in for service!
Don't get me wrong the Troy irons are good and I like that you sprang for the tridium, that shows that you are thinking but we shouldn't be building these things for fancy or looks (not to say you did either of those things) we need to builld them to last.
So if I cut you some stencils will you Fleck your rifle?
-
Man your all over that flecktarn. I don't know where i could get a 100%flat burnt orangeish color.
-
Try Home Depot. They have a plethora of the Painter's Touch by Rustoleum. They have many many different shades of colors and in semigloss too.
Why don't you try sponge camo? I've done it on my Mosin and an ammo can and I love it! I can't see myself doing my AR until a real SHTF situation, but that's just me.

There is a flecktarn stencil kit out there, and I'd bet Duracoat has the colors you need.
Just get it done, by the time you get all the rattlecan stuff ya might as well have duracoated it.
-
Great idea Hipster! [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

So you're all about it too? I think it would look great!

On my AR I have a magnified ACOG so I don't like co witnessing with other optics.
-
I don't get why everyone is crazy about the flecktarn?
Im gonna paint it tiger stripe since i already have all the stuff.
When i get the money i'll duracoat it in some pattern.

Like... flecktarn?? :o
v0dka, we are all fucked up about it because it is an awesome pattern. You tell me a pattern that looks more moto than that?
-
tiger stripe?
I'd like to use flecktarn as my camo but it's hard to get bdu's in that camo plus i'm already invested in tiger stripe.
