A New .380 Bullet
« on: March 18, 2015, 08:52:23 PM »
Like most people who carry .380, I carry fmJ because hollowpoint .380s do not have the muzzle velocity to fully open up and penetrate. These new bullets called Xtreme penetrator seem to have both advantages of the penetration of fmj and the wounding capability of hollow point. There are 4 grooves cut into the bullet that Chanel the energy away from the bullet and into the flesh.

I think I have found a new carry ammo.  I do occasionally carry a little Taurus 380.

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

God created Man, Col. Sam Colt made him equal, John Moses Browning turned equality to perfection, Gaston Glock turned perfection into plastic fantastic junk.

Interesting video Grudgie. Thanks for posting it.

Looks like a better ammo option for the .380. My question to the forum though is: Why carry a .380 anyway when there are some great small wheel guns out there in a more potent caliber?

Some great small handguns are:

> S&W J Frames and
> Ruger SP101 series.

By carrying one of these handguns you can still slip it in your pocket but yet have a bigger punch with a .38 caliber round. MrsMac's secondary is a Ruger SP101. She has the 2.25" spurless. I borrow her's when a totally concealed handgun is needed. Slips totally unnoticed in a pair of docker slacks, coat pocket or even a ITW holster.

Carried with a speed loader, you have 10 potent lead pills.

Keep abreast of J6 arrestees at https://americangulag.org/ Donate if you can for their defense.

The Taurus 380 has one of those carry cases that look like a phone case for your belt.  Near impossible to tell apart.  The Charter Arms Undercover I had as EDC for 4 years just does not hide as well much of the time.

I used to carry a Macarov in 380.

As a matter of fact I carried two in a double shoulder rig. I can shoot pistol with both hands so figured what the hell.

I liked the Mackarov due to its simplicity and reliability.

People talk bad about the 380, yet considering most pistol work is done at real close range. The 380 can work.

Remember the aged old technique that works. Double tap to the chest followed by one to the head. Always do that. Practice that every time you are at the range.

Thumbs up for Lehigh & Underwood ammo. For expansion in a .380, try their controlled fracturing round.
The .380 is a good round, but I have better options.

I am a smallish guy. 5'7 and 150lbs. Even carrying around a Colt Mustang looks like I'm walking around with a brick in my pocket.
