7,000 and growing
« on: October 22, 2018, 12:00:19 PM »
A question for LEO's retired Military and those still in service. Your opinion please.

There are 7,000 Latino's marching to our boarder with the intent of crossing illegally, President Trump said he would put the military on the boarder to stop them.
How is he going to do that without them crossing by at least one step? What equipment will he use and what if the cartel's start shooting?

I don't consider them to be crossing the border illegally, I consider them to be an invasion force.  A napalm drop would end the invasion quickly.  The media is showing impoverished mothers and little children, when in reality the bulk of the invasion force is young men.  It is an invasion force, instead of putting them in jail over night and then letting them go the next day, the government should put them in POW camps, to be repatriated to their original countries.  Brand them, and if they return again; hang them.  Maybe the word would get out that's it's not worth your life to become an illegal immigrant.

The down and dirty way to handle this problem would be one soldier with a chain gun. Ten seconds later the problem would be solved. That would then set off the damn lefties. The Military has Microwave trucks that have devices that can be aimed at a crowd and make them so hot that they would run like Hell or be cooked. They also have high frequency audio speakers that are directional and are so loud that you'd think your head would explode if you stayed in front of it. I think the focused sound would be the best choice because even if they used ear plugs, it wouldn't help. They'd be running like Hell after about 5 seconds of that. The most cruel thing they could do would be to set up a Bluegrass band at the border and have them play 24 hours a day until the crowd couldn't stand it any more.

On Lou Dobbs tonight a lawyer said that President Trump has the right to put troops on the boarder and because it's an invasion they could also enter Mexico.

Interesting discussion and I agree with most comments. If I was President this is what I would do:

1) Let Mexico know that if they do not stop this invasion all Federal Tax Dollars that go their way would be halted. Since Congress
controls the purse strings, the Congress would have to authorize the President to do this.

2) By this time, I would have 50-100 infiltrators embedded in the migration invasion to report G2. Things like on the make-up of the
invasion, where they are being supplied from, etc.

2a) IMO, once the supply chain is determined, let Mexico know and have them cut it off.

2b) Make public who is behind the invasion (Follow the money) and a accurate make-up of the folks that make up the invasion.

3) Once the specific area that they will cross is established (Re-read #2) then prepare to setup a POW type camp. Once they approach
the border, heard them into the POW camp, process them, and send them back to where they came from. Let it be known if they are
caught crossing the border again, they will get 5-years in a federal prison.

3a) The folks that are processed that have a record even if it is just for previously crossing the border keep them locked up and
prosecute them using the current laws on the books.

3b) It would be great if Mexico let us use a piece of their country along the border to build the POW camp to process the invaders.

Although I have similar feeling's about taking the invaders out. I do think this would be an optic nightmare though.

Now lets talk Logistics. Just think of the logistics needed for 7,000+ people. Food, Sanitary, shelter, transportation, etc. Think the logistics needed for an Army division. The key to sopping these folks is to cut off their supply train.

Shep Smith, Fox News, 1500 today was reporting it would take another month or more for any significant number to reach the US border.  So the election aspect (per him) is bogus.

Either way, some around (so I have heard) believe we should just kill em all and let god sort them out.  That would cause a significant decrease in any attempt to illegally cross our southern border.

I saw a report that detailed their progress. They traveled 552 miles in 4 days. Say what????? Yep that's 138 miles per day. Somebody is transporting those people. It is impossible for anyone to travel 138 miles per day on foot. If this was a group of about 100 or 200 people, then shooting them at the boarder would look really bad for the GOP but since its 5000 to 7000, I don't think the Socialists would get any kind of sympathy benefit. Unless you have an IQ less than 70, all the US citizens would be OK with dealing with them violently. This left wing maneuver is bound to backfire and the November elections is going to be a landslide for the GOP. Mexico had better get its act together and put a stop to this before the mob gets to our border because the US will bitch slap the hell out Mexico if this thing puts us in a position to look like the bad guy.

As retired Army here is my view.

He will do what has been done in the past and deploy the National Guard to the border. He can do this without running foul of Posse Comitatus.

National Guard deployments to the border have been happening for a very long time.

Since they are forces under the control of their State they are empowered to take action in the defence of such state or any state that they are sent to assist.

An example of this is patrols of areas during disasters to stop looting and such. They are legally empowered to use force as required.

The National Guard Forces of the southern border states are some of the stronger in the US. As a matter of fact Texas could be claimed to have pretty much its own Army. Texas has been deploying Guard troops to the border for a very long time for different purposes. I have had friends from the Texas Guard that have been deployed there as recon against the drug cartels. They were armed and empowered to use deadly force. This was in the 90's.

Setting aside any hype on this. I see the guard units deployed in armed Riot Control formations intended to block any attempts to cross the border.

I am confident that the professionalism and competence of our modern day State Guard forces will have no problem managing the situation as it unfolds in a manner that will make us proud.

While there is organisation behind this. It is not a Nation State sending an armed force towards our border intent upon invasion of the US. This group and their intentions are very much what the State Guards were formed to manage.

My only concern is that non-official groups of nut-jobs will show up with with itchy trigger fingers and kick off a firefight that gets innocent people killed.  Unfortunately some groups started with good potential. Have attracted questionable people into their ranks and this has influenced the groups to undertake questionable actions. Unfortunately many of those influential actors have also been found to be posing as veterans, yet have been proven to have lied about their service in a tangible way.

A website of interest of the poser front is.

I agree with most of what you write Gadget.

Personally, I think Texas and Arizona's National Guard will handle the situation well. California will not. The last that I read was the invasion force was heading towards The Golden State.

In a Oval Room Press conference yesterday VP Pence reported that Venezuela was behind the invasion.

Still say that a quick and non lethal way of stopping the advance of the invasion is to cut off their supply lines. It will fold like a deflated adult doll.  ;)

To add insult to injury, there is another caravan inflation organizing in Honduras. I think the military would call this, "waves of invasions".

I think it is interesting how there were rumors (Colombia has attempted to squash them) of Colombia pledging support to Brazil if they intervene in Venezuela. Would not surprise me given how much the new Brazilian President hates Leftists and Colombia is done with Venezuela's outflow into their country.

I guess Trump stood up to Mexico and they put the brakes on assisting the caravan.  That all going there in a handbasket.

Migrant caravan coordinator says demand for Mexico to provide buses has 'failed'
Greg Norman
By Greg Norman | Fox News

The leading migrant caravan trying to make its way to the United States border is admitting defeat after asking the Mexican government to provide dozens of buses to speed up the group's journey northward.

The setback comes days after caravan leaders asked for “safe and dignified” transport to Mexico City, a checkpoint along the way for a group that has been dwindling in size as members either apply for protected status in Mexico or drop out over fatigue exacerbated by the sweltering weather conditions they have been facing.

"The attempt to travel by bus failed," caravan coordinator Walter Cuello told the Associated Press Wednesday night.

It has been a tumultuous journey so far for the leading caravan, which is now estimated to contain around 4,000 people – down from a peak of more than 7,000.

The caravan crossed into Mexico from Guatemala around Oct. 19 and, at the start of this week, appeared to be pushing northward at a faster pace with the help of free rides being offered to them in trucks and other vehicles.

But the arduous nature of the trek – walking day by day to new towns and cities and sleeping on the streets – has been eating away at the migrants’ morale from the outset. The request for bus travel for all also indicates an increased sense of urgency amongst the caravan’s members to make it to the U.S. border – despite thousands of American troops awaiting them there and a steady drumbeat of warnings from President Trump and U.S. officials to turn around.

"Of the friends that I have been with, all want to go back," Hasiel Isamar Hernandez, a 28-year-old mother of three from Honduras, told the Associated Press days ago. The caravan originated in that country as many are trying to flee its pervasive poverty and violence.

Not all of the migrants that have abandoned the journey though are going back to Honduras. Mexican Interior Secretary Alfonso Navarrete Prida said about 2,300 of them so far have applied to stay in Mexico under a government plan, and hundreds more have accepted assisted repatriation.

Those still with the leading caravan appeared to be confused Thursday as to where it is heading next. It initially hit the road from Juchitan in southern Mexico before sunrise, hoping to cover ground before temperatures in the area pick up, where it is forecasted to be around 90 degrees later this afternoon.

A Fox News crew traveling with the caravan reports that it originally planned to go to Santa Maria Jalapa del Marques, a city about 35 miles west of Juchitan. But shortly after departing, the caravan's leaders changed the route to go north to the town of Matias Romero, in the direction of the coastal city of Veracruz, which lies on the Gulf of Mexico.

The switch suggests that once the caravan gets to Veracruz, it may split in half, with some of the caravan probably heading to a border crossing about 600 miles away in McAllen, Texas. The other half may travel more than double that length to Tijuana, just across the border from San Diego.

"What's going on right now? We are supposed to go that way -- that is a wrong way," Juan Jarquin, one of the migrants, told Fox News' William La Jeunesse. "I can't understand who is running the show."

Another migrant said he was "not sure" whether the caravan would go to Tijuana or McAllen.

Three more caravans are now behind them.

A second, smaller group of 1,000 or so migrants is more than 200 miles back. A third band of about 500 from El Salvador has made it to Guatemala, and a fourth group of about 700 set out from the Salvadoran capital Wednesday.
A man filling a water tank on a truck pauses to spray migrants with water to help them shower in Juchitan.

Mexico’s government so far has flip-flopped on how they plan to deal with the caravans.

The first two caravans were confronted by Mexican federal police at a bridge crossing along its border with Guatemala. The officers stopped them from walking en masse over the bridge – but didn’t prevent them from entering their country entirely. The migrants simply waded across the Suchiate River to get past the police, sometimes in their line of sight.

Stunning images have emerged this week capturing the second caravan moving across the river.

In the first week after the leading caravan got into Mexico, federal police sometimes enforced obscure safety rules, forcing them off paid mini-buses, citing insurance regulations, added the Associated Press. They also stopped some overloaded pickup trucks carrying migrants and forced them to get off.

But in recent days, officials from Mexico's immigrant protection agency have organized rides for straggling women and children as a humanitarian effort. And police have routinely stood by as migrants piled aboard freight trucks.

Also Wednesday, a Guatemalan woman gave birth to the first known caravan baby at a hospital in Juchitan. Mexico's governmental National Human Rights Commission said it had arranged for medical attention for the woman.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
