I checked out the article and found it very interesting. All the trouble that guy went through looked great for long term situations but setting that up and tearing it down every day at a different location would be a monster pain in the ass. However, I do think its a great hack for staying warmer in Winter or cooler in Summer. I have several of those Mylar, one man, space blankets in our Bug Out Bags and in each car. In the Expedition, I keep a full body set of CAMO Winter overalls for me and the wife that zips up the front. That and a Space blanket should be quick and easy. Here's the rub..... When I bought the Winter overalls, they were about $40 each. Damn! The last time I priced them they were close to $100 each. I keep a cheap 2 man tent in the Expedition and lots of candles for light and heat. Its amazing how much you can heat up a car, truck, SUV, or van with just one candle. I went sailing on the Chesapeake Bay in March with my boss and I grabbed those winter Coveralls out of my car, just in case, because we were going to sleep on that 20 footer and they kept me warm enough to not freeze to death. I also had a winter stadium coat with me that I used for blanket. Hmmm.... Now that I think about it, my feet damned near froze because I was wearing cloth deck shoes. Guess who slept in the cabin and who slept out on the deck. Yep, I slept on the deck.
