An arms factory in every home: Gun control fights against its inevitable demise

Quote
A group that intends to publish, for free, the design of a firearm that can be completely produced by 3-D printing, has run into difficulties. Defense Distributed hopes to make it possible for anyone, world wide, with access to a 3-D printer, to manufacture one's own life and liberty preservation tools ("guns," in more prosaic parlance). Unfortunately, according to Wired.com's Danger Room, the makers of the high-end 3-D printer to be used for the project have decided to cancel Defense Distributed's lease of the printer:

CSGV becoming increasingly frantic over 'printable gun'

'Juden haben waffen! Juden haben waffen!' ('The Jews have arms!')

Quote
St. Louis Gun Rights Examiner recently discussed the "Wiki Weapon" project, organized by University of Texas law student Cody Wilson, to develop a design for a firearm that can be printed on a 3-D printer. This design would be published for free on the Internet, and made available to anyone with Internet access. The project has hit a speed bump for the moment, because the manufacturer of the high-end 3-D printer revoked the lease of the printer when it got wind of the nature of the project. Wilson has vowed to not let this stop him, and is exploring his options.

"I, myself, remained on the balcony and fired at the confused and embarrassed Germans with my Mauser. From my balcony, I could see them in all their helplessness and their loss of control. The air was full of wails and shouts. Many of them tried to run to the walls of the houses for cover but everything was barred and beyond that, death was pursuing them. In the noise, the fluster, and the cries of the wounded, we heard the astonished outcry of one of the Germans: 'Juden haben waffen! Juden haben waffen!' ('The Jews have arms!') . . .
The battle lasted for about a half an hour. The Germans withdrew and there were many corpses and wounded in the street." -- Recollection of the opening engagement on 19 April 1943 of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising by Haim Frymer, Jewish Fighting Organization, quoted in Resistance by Israel Gutman, New York, 1994, pp. 206-207.

Right now it would be great for weapons mockups when creating new and revolutionary firearms, before you put the money into creating the real one.  You could check functionality and ergonomics, ect.

Its a badass idea in theory for sure. I dont even understand it quite honestly. But i read that the company who designed these printers will only be allowing government to have its hands on it. So really its worse then the thing never being invented at all.

There a bunch of companies that make them. Anyone can buy them if you have a few thousand dollars sitting around.https://store.makerbot.com/replicator2.html

Just remember how stuff works when SHTF.  All the stuff "the government" has, usually ends up in the hands of the people one way or another, same thing with a resistance.

Not to mention, in a resistance, there is a need for a cheap "one shot" .22LR silenced weapon.  The current technology for that is 100 percent available.

Think outside the box.  Once a technology is CREATED, it is hard to make that knowledge disappear, you could probably make one of these for much cheaper than buying one.  If you wanted one bad enough, you could create it yourself, on the downlow.  It just goes to show, how silly gun control is, especially outlawing all guns in private hands.

You should see some of the firearms resistances have made in their garage, when firearms were illegal, and I guess they couldn't do any tactical requisitioning from regime stock.

Rapid Prototyping is awesome tech, you can come up with an idea and within hours have something to hold in your hand.

Make Magazine is always going on and on about their latest greatest (and cheaper) homebrew prototyper. This tech is well within the reach of anyone one of us.

But there is one problem that I can see. These 3d printers are the hight of technology not only in how they are made and operate but in the materials that they use.

Compare that to your average home gun builder.. and you will see a guy who is working with an odd mix of hand and power tools with whatever materials he can get his hands on. His work/shop/thoughprocess is all about flexibility. I've seen everything from fine bolt guns to full auto micro ak pistols that used rubberbands instead of action springs come out of home shops.

And that printer only makes a Liberty Gun anyhow.

That stuff is cool and all but I would rather spend my time getting my hands dirty in the shop making a prototype that will last instead of a single shot and spending hours on the computer. That being said those little liberators were a cool idea, the goal was to use that little pistol to get bigger and better guns from the enemy. So guys unless you really want to do that buy you new high speed low drag baby killing assault weapons at www.homefront-defense.com  [url=http://www.freesmileys.or
