Probably easier to make a gun out of plumbing supplies really. At least it doesn't require a several thousand dollar (just my estimate) 3D printer.

At least, currently. In a few years when 3D printers are in every household it'll be different. But I think knowing how to do some things like that could be worthwhile.

3D printers now cost less then many higher end laptops. it is within the reach of the "Common Man" at this point.

It's more than having it. It is a historical moment in the Internet and the gun world.

Only downside i see to this is that clearly the BATFE has already cracked down on the guys who put out the Data. I gaurantee you that they are already scrambling to create an online surveilance unit specifically for Gun printing data. This means theres going to be cyber gun crimes.

No one can contain information once it hits the net, let them create all the laws they want.
The ball is already rolling, as Cory the guy from DefenseDistributed said, current gun sucks and has a lot of problems, but is the first step.
New and stronger polymers will appear, 3D printing tech will be cheaper and we will be able to print whatever the fuck we want.

I just dont understand why they went with a standard AR Grip on this pistol. Its horrible for a handgun. Im sure its easier to measure and input data from an existing part rather then start from scratch though. Someone who knows about guns needs to start designing shit.
