You do realize that the police officer has been dispatched and is just gather additional information which is now coming across the LEO's computer.

Depending on the state, jurisdiction, the cops & prosecutor, him saying he didn't think the guy was armed could've f'd himself.  Hopefully he wasn't in a required to retreat state, judging by the 911 dispatcher he probably wasn't.

The story in the link doesn't sound too good for the homeowner though.

So many things wrong with that story

The dispatcher should have never asked the homeowner to lay down his weapon and walk out to the LEO's! Its the LEO's job to protect the homeowner, not the other way around!!
