When you think you have a little bit too much ammo, that's just about the point where you have enough. Some preppers that I know locally have one firearm and 200 rounds and they think they have enough. We're gonna miss them when they're gone.
A guy I know has a thousand rounds per gun, it's just him and his wife. Would you say he is safe there?
Respectfully, No.
I believe firearms are merely the "thing that makes the ammo go boom".. the actual agent of harm on thy enemies is the ammo.
Our readiness is best measured in the amount of ammo you have rather than the number of firearms.
2 Modern firearms supported by the same amount of ammo that
value of the firearms would buyWould be better than 10 of the same firearms supported by only a couple thousand rounds
So if you have a 900 dollar AR15 with a 300 dollar optic that 1200 dollars. So that Ar15 ought to be backed by approx 4 cases of brass ammo (30 centsa round.. Wolf Gold, )
or 3 cases of federal white box 5.56 (40 cents a round)
or 6 cases of Wolf.223 ( 20 cents around)
Whichever your ammo preference is.
So perhaps a minimum of 3-5 cases of ammo per AR.
In this way I rather have 2 ARs with 10,000 rounds of the better steel case ( say Wolf military Classic) or 5000 rounds of Federal White box
than 6 ARs backed up by only 3000 rounds.
This goes for all weapons unless you are a pure collector.
Ammo will disappear, get "used up" much faster than your firearm will be "used up" ( worn out)
So again the true limiting factor is the ammo so perhaps Ammo should present in greater value even than the weapon it supports.
Thats a tough mental step to make and human like to hold a tangible mechanical thing like a rifle.. but Ammo is a bit more abstract.
But even those among us who have same value in Ammo as in firearms ought to consider buying more when the deal is good.
We have by no means won the battle for our republic yet.. the current administration is merely a breather.
So times when you can buy no ammo or only vastly overpriced are always right around the corner
If you have an amount that you can count readily during a commercial TV break.. then you have too little.
If you have enough that you dont know exactly how much and must estimate in your mind.. and/or that it would be a major afternoon project to count it all.. or that you could use ammo cases as substitute furniture.. then you may have enough.
