I try to live the way that no matter if on the internet, telephone, or face to face, we should have a respectable decency about how we converse with one another.  They way we talk and act influences the way we think and feel and vies versa, another tidbit of wisdom that age brings to some of us.  Try it out.

To me, calling someone the N word is like calling someone a Democrat or a republican. It is just stating a fact.

If I was disrespectful for saying a descriptive word then ban me now. If this community will not tolerate me for saying, 'Ninja' then ban me now. The irony alone would be worth it.

Edited by thatGuy, to allow the conversation to continue without leading to a SPLC list.

I do not hate black people for being black. I do not want to be part of a community that will not talk openly about racial differences, but instead quietley holds it over my head in a tone of superiority.

Walker, you are not better than me. You do not control my vocabulary.

I am a eugenicist. I have been quiet about it until now but there it is. We can never make progress until we can move past vocabulary boundaries. The fastest way to end racism is to stop talking about it.

To be honest I have a pretty uncensored approach when talking about race to my friends who pretty much make up every major ethnicity there is. And they are the same way. The way we talk to each other would probably make Mark Potach's head explode but it is done in a brotherly way and in good fun. Also the uncensored approach has probably meant our friendship is stronger since we are more honest with each other.

Having said that though. Unlike here we dont have discussions about guns, shit hitting the fan, tyranny, and our eroding freedoms while some dickhead from the Southern Poverty Lie Center is monitoring our conversation with a checklist hoping to label us a hate group.

Just my .02 cents.

Really a worthless conversation guys. I wouldn't go trying to take the moral high ground over Grudgie because of a word. Fact is I've used that word plenty of times myself. To me it's a person of little perceived moral character, a dark individual, evil. So I'll use that for people white, black, asian, latino, and everything in between. No prejudice about it. And I'll actually take it a step further to say I agree that if everyone just shut the hell up about it we'd all get along a lot better. You guys just displayed the same PC reaction a lot of American's did back in '08 by voting Obama in. Talk about conditioned.

I'm not saying it's a right word to use, but what black friends I've had over the years have acknowledge there is good reason for it. And they're typically wearing dew rags, selling drugs, killing babies, leaving pregnant women, and shooting people for no reason other than "I like your shoes." In a civilized culture that's a compliment. In the ghetto you'd better run and hide your Nike's. So while I understand what this is all about and the so called legal repercussions I couldn't disagree with your stance more. This type of incremental censoring of free speech is inherently evil. Out of respect for individuals I've known to be on here and lurk I do not use that language lest they misunderstand it and take it personally. If it's part of anyone else's everyday terminology I am far from the man to judge what they say. Particularly considering how few of us can often understand one another's emotion behind a typed message.

Anyone's personal view in this matter is of little importance.  So I've kept mine to myself.  The simple fact is that straight prep has rules regarding posts.   Its not a free speech issue.  Follow the rules or don't post.  Its as easy as that.

I'm not so much against the rules as the condescending tone of other members over a word. It's very hypocritical. If it was such an issue why not wipe the content completely rather than leaving it up for conversation and personal ridicule?

I don't get involved in moderating tones.  If TG wants to delete a thread then he will.  If I can edit a post to make it comply with the rules set out I will and then leave it up.  Otherwise I delete the post.

I also don't jump into pissing contests right away and prefer to see if the guys can work it out amongst themselves first.

TG gives everyone a lot of leeway in what they post.  But as we all know, there are still a few rules.  Easy deal.

I was going to ask "what condescending tone?" ... but then again I really don't care.  (y'all see what I did there?)

The reason the content was left up is because this discussion has been deemed necessary and also to avoid confusion for now... it's possible it may be removed at a later time.

What this all comes down to is not moral high round.  As stated eloquently by both Deathstyle and Special-K, it's about not getting slapped with a bogus wrap and getting the door booted down.  The man who pays the bills said don't say this one word, so don't say this one fucking word, no conversation, no discussion necessary  >:(

As far as leaving things up for ridicule, I asked TG to edit Grudgie's post and leave it up because he was sharing his personal outlook on the situation, whether anyone agrees or not, and it seemed like a more dickhead thing to deny him that.  If he could stop his freedom of speech bullshit for 2 seconds to think about how his actions affect the group instead of just thinking of himself, maybe he'd be able to see that everyone wants him to stick around, he just needs to watch his racial slurs.  I say horribly offensive shit all the time, but I don't use that one word, and I don't get defensive when people fire back.  In fact, I too have received warnings for my posts.  If you are going to stir up shit, don't cry about getting shit on your spoon...

Just saw your post, Sledge, well stated...

BTW- some things have already been removed, so you are not always seeing the extent of the full shit show, just the PG-13 parts...

General comment:

This has been an interesting discussion. At first I didn't understand it and thought Grudgie was just being Grudgie; then Special-K clarified things - Thank you SK.

I personally do not use "that word" as I think it makes me look small, hateful and ignorant. With that said, it does annoy me that the word has become ultra PC. So PC that great authors like Joseph Conrad, Charles Dickens and Mark Twain's books are being banned from our school library's or worse, being rewritten.

Quote
Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a classic by most any measure?T.S. Eliot called it a masterpiece, and Ernest Hemingway pronounced it the source of "all modern American literature." Yet, for decades, it has been disappearing from grade school curricula across the country, relegated to optional reading lists, or banned outright, appearing again and again on lists of the nation's most challenged books, and all for its repeated use of a single, singularly offensive word: "nigger."

http://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/industry-news/publisher-news/article/45645-upcoming-newsouth-huck-finn-eliminates-the-n-word.html

When people I know use "the word" and they are under my roof, I pull them aside and ask them not to use it as it makes them look small, hateful and ignorant and I know that they are not small, hateful or ignorant.

Thanks to the generosity of TG, this is "our roof" and I applaud all of our efforts; past, present and future, in policing the site. With that written, lets remember to do it with respect.

Keep abreast of J6 arrestees at https://americangulag.org/ Donate if you can for their defense.

Yeah, you dodged the subject. Regardless of policy, those involved here are doing nothing better than going on a witch hunt over a stupid word. You've all handled it like children. Very liberal progressive children at that. It should have been deleted completely and handled behind the scenes from a moderator or TG if it were that big of deal according to the rules. Not left up to point out one single member over a single word. But hey, so sorry for sticking up for someone over what I see as a clear injustice. I'll make sure to do that less and less before WROL. Wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings or break any rules.

The primary reason this forum exists is to allow us to come together with a group of our peers and refine our own points of view. I like to think of this forum as a virtual Salon where thoughts can be expressed, refined and improved.

I've left this topic up in the hopes that instead of chastising Grudgie we could lead him to a better understanding based on our most sacred ideology, Liberty.

I'll start, if we keep the discussion of eugenics limited to breed development in animals it is a fine idea but flies directly in the face of our founding principals of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. No man nor collection of men has the right to dictate how another breeds. When applied to the human species eugenics is radically oppressive. While I like the idea that we could raise our children free of fear that they would be susceptible to disease, the price simply put is too high.

Let say hypothetically it was you turn Grudgie to bring in some historical blood to the line would you breed with a African? What if it was your turn to line breed back to your own Mother? How would you feel about being sterilized due to a limp, dark eyes or something as trivial as a lisp?

Grudgie I don't want you to feel like I am picking on you, I enjoy having you here and would like to lead you to a better understanding. If I didn't feel that you were worthy I wouldn't have ever tried. Mull it over and give it some thought.

Actually WW, it was handled behind the scenes.   But people don't seem to want let it go.
So its staying up in the front.

I see only one person pissing & moaning here.

Many of us here are very liberty minded folks.  I felt that our members would appreciate some context to go along with this recent restriction on speech.  That's one reason the posts were left up.

*sarcasm*  Well excuse me for trying to bring some openness to the politics here.  The next time we will just black-bag the offender and no one will ever hear from them again.

So in other words, what I am saying is that handling this particular situation this way saves the mods from having to deal with a flurry of PM's concerning "free speech" and requests to explain what happened that led to this.  Everything has already been laid out and explained for everyone to see.

Sledge & Special K- Just want to point out that you guys did handle this behind the scenes and could have saved a whole hell of a lot of time and frustration by dealing with it openly to begin with. If it were a personal matter it most certainly should have been dealt with behind closed doors. This wasn't the case. Instead mods let it fester, boil over, and then be brought in to public perspective. So I'm not really going to apologize for my limited perspective considering it's a product of you all. Do I feel like an ass? Some what.

Perhaps in the future mods, to save yourselves the time of dealing with countless PM's and having to explain to members (like myself) what is going on after the fact you should just let the general public, who may or not take offense, deal with it. But to say you're liberty minded and then keep it behind closed doors for a couple weeks? Come on, who do you think you're kidding? That's a complete oxymoron. It's all cause and effect folks.

In the future should you guys choose to attempt to "better" a member by chastising them you may want to realize "chastising" is done publicly. Conspiracy is done in private and then brought in to the open. While you may disagree with what I'm saying I will openly say it. You all owe Grudgie an apology. Not for your personal feelings, but for the way this was handled. Had I had friends do this to me I would no longer consider them friends. Perhaps then he might understand a little better that this effort came out of compassion and a desire to edify a brother. If he doesn't and you're sticking to your guns over your rules then he should have been suspended or banned.

Beyond that gentlemen I'm done discussing this. Feel free to conspire in your moderator forum as you like.
