Even if you don't have a membership, it's worth looking around for trial offers, either cheap or free, usually for a month or so. If you want really killer deals on stuff, make friends with a grocery/restaurant wholesaler. That's where I get all my canned tomatoes, spices, canned goods, oils, etc. And almost never any limits on purchases, they're more than happy to sell you a whole pallet if you want it.
