LTS crackers
« on: November 25, 2015, 07:53:38 PM »
Slowly building my long term food storage and I felt that with soup crakers go great. But how to store them.
There are three packs in a box of Salteens and Ritz and I was thinking I needed to put a small slit in each pack, put them in Mylar with O2 absorbers. Will that work or will the O2 crush the crackers?
Today I bought a box of Kosher salt dried Navy beans, split peas, a can of pears and two cans of BBQ beans.
In principle, no less than in practice, socialism is the ideology of thieves and tyrants.

I live by Ritz.  I think a vacuum sealing with an absorber would be good, provided you make it just a light seal.  Otherwise you may crush them.  But if you can get a full suction go with that.  I have not tried either so I can just provide thoughts.

Try a full vacuum and see how they stand up.  If crumbled, go with the lighter one.

I just break them in half, stuff 'em in a mason jar and vacuum seal them. Time comes I need them, I won't really care if they're broken up or not. But I'll probably be glad the jar is really really full.

Freezing is good idea but all I do for long term storage I do so I need no electricity.
