The overall theory is this, the World Economic Forum is "nudging" folks to accept The Great Reset.

Often, Americans are myopic when they look at the challenges ahead and think it is only affecting them. When in fact the challenges they are facing are global.

This Davos crowd needs to be stopped now or we will end up with another fascist juggernaut ala 1939 and have WW III on our hands.

Post by: Jackalope on October 21, 2021, 01:39:48 PM: I know that Sri Lanka has been experiencing food shortages. Those folks eat rice nearly every meal, and there's been some rice shortages. When rice is available the price increases substantially. I've advised relatives over there to stock up, but their wages are so low it makes stocking up difficult.

While down here in SE PA, I am staying at my mom's town house while she languishes in the hospital. I went to the local big box grocery store to pick up a few things for dinner.

One of the things I was looking for was those frozen potatoes that come in a paper container that you bake in the oven for 30-minutes or so. They come with cheese and bacon mixed in. Well they had none. There was a home in the freezer but no potatoes.

Then I stood back from the freezer section and took in the whole case. I noticed that although the freezers looked full, they were not. Other products were just spread around to give the illusion they were filled.

Then I started to walk the aisles. I noticed the same spreading of product everywhere.

One area that took me by surprise was the pharmaceutical area. If you need cold remedies, OTC pain killers, deodorants, shave cream and razors, etc. you better stock up now because they will not be available consistently as we approach December and the end of the year.

When the wife and I started Prepping, we started out with Lots of long term storage Food, then Bug out gear, then Health and Hygene, then Home Security, Emergency Power, and Communications. I see a lot of people who think they are prepping but all they are doing is concentrating on food, period. I guess they will be found frozen to death with a sandwich in their hand.

When I say Health and Hygene, I mean lots of Prescriton Meds, Toilet Paper, Over The Counter Meds of every kind, Body Wash, Shampoo, Tooth paste, Tooth brushes, Floss, Throw away Razors and Shaving cream. When I say lots, I mean lots. I counted more than 20 large tubes of tooth paste and more than 60 throw away razors. There is no way the two of us are going to use all that stuff but we have to assume our neighbors aren't long term thinkers and they will eventually come asking if we have any whatever, whatever, whatever.

I tend to buy Shark brand blades online , generally 100 blades for just under ten dollars. that is usually 2 years of shaves, with some stubble days - to enhance my manliness for my lovely Wife.-

If those run-out, there is also the flywheel powered 'mechanical shaver' like an electric but with a pull cord. This was a product of te mid-20th century so that travelers to odd places in the world would still bewell shaven.

Last but not least, my Rolls Razor, inherited from my late father when I joined the Army. It is an aluminium case with it's own built-in sharpening stone and strop, the blade held at a constant angle for razor sharpening. It was old when I received it. and I used it for several decades until I became lax in my old age, and so, began using double edge razor.

Stockplie bar soap now and learn to make your own from wood ash and fat/oil of some kind, if you can spare fats and oils from your available food sources. >>> In dire times, food grade fats are generally in short supply and high demand. It generally requires 6 weeks or so for most wood ash soaps to 'cure' so that they don't cause skin burns and irritations frm the caustics.

Coffee easily stores for months/ years as green (bean) in sealed containers. Learn to roast your own in a pan over an OUTDOOR fire and you'll never go back to that 'stuff' in the large cans. Remember: roast your coffee outdoors in a pan, else your house will smell like 100 Starbucks have burned to the ground in your living room.

I used it for a year or so till like what Sir John wrote, "..I used it for several decades until I became lax in my old age..." except I only used it for about a year or so, then moved over to a disposal two blade razor.

Post by: Nemo on November 04, 2021, 06:22:30 PM: I have a 9 year old small dog clipper that I use every 4-5 days. A razor or similar sharp object has not touched my face in 5 years and that was to attend the wedding of a family friend.

Its rather amazing to be so liberated. It takes a month or so get used to it, but once there you are truly liberated.

Post by: DMCakhunter on January 02, 2022, 04:55:42 PM: Might be something to do with New Years or covid or the weather but was just at our normal grocery store and the lack of produce was shocking. No onions, no potatoes, no bananas, no lettuce, no oranges or any citrus at all. There were apples, berry fruits, sugar snap peas, a few large bags of carrots and some cucumbers. Meat, dairy and bread were normal. Frozen stuff was normal. Beer and booze was normal.

Will go back in a couple days and see if they get restocked.

I would rather have a root canal (Seriously) than shop with MtsMac - Trust me. She has to go up and down each aisle and NOT buy stuff on her list but look at crap we do not need - What ever, we all have our own interests.

This allows me to roam around the store and observe and talk to folks - Regular customers and staff. Every Sunday, I speak to butchers, stockers (Why are they getting younger and younger), and my favorite, customers.

Today, my perspective was, the store was light about 20% as a whole. Customers I spoke to, felt it was closer to 50% light but I think they were only talking about what "they" were looking for. Regardless, "their" impression was 50% light on what they wanted. Mmmm.

The head butcher saw me and waved me over. He motioned with his arm to his meat selection and explained to me that if it was not for him, the meat department would be half of what I saw there. What I saw was very light to what I saw 12-months ago. :facepalm:

Bottom-line, at least in NE PA, although management was trying to make things look good, it is all smoke & mirrors. Things are getting worse...Period.

Bottom-line, a year ago, we use to spend $75, $78, $82, $81 dollars a week on groceries. Let's call it $80- a week. Now it averages in the $105 to $110- a week. That is an unscientific 20% increase. That is with 3-freezers worth of protein so no meat purchases. OUCH!

I worry about folks that are not in the relatively good condition we are in. What will they do when they do not have the diminishing $$$$ to buy diminishing goods?

When the wife and I go to town and stop at ANY STORE, I go in and when I get back to the car, the wife always says the same thing. "Boy, that was quick". Then I say, "It's because I was Man Shopping". Man shopping is knowing what you want, going straight to it, taking it to the checkout, and leaving. "Woman shopping is knowing what you want, looking at everything in the store, buying a bunch of stuff that you didn't go in there to buy, starting a conversation with a total stranger and telling them everything about all your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, all your health ailments, paying for all the stuff and coming back to the car to pissed off husband who had to wait 1 hour."

We both are noticing shortages of all kinds of things, too many to mention, and how much more things cost. This trend is only going to get worse and even we Preppers are going to suffer. The avearge dumbass on the street is really going to suffer because they were living their life with their head stuck up there butt and didn't pay attention to what was happening.

Go to the store, go get what you went for and need, not want, pay for it and leave.

Then go home unless there is someplace else you NEED to go to BUY something.

Most of the meat produrcts come from outside the US, that is why the shelves are empty
