Deer hunting season is happening in most states this month along the eastern seaboard. Pennsylvania center fire deer season started yesterday, Dec 2nd and runs trough Dec 14th. The area where our cabin is this week is bear season too.
My first day of hunting went like this:
Went to my tree stand at 0600 local time (Sun up was 0712hrs) and found that the tree that housed my tree stand had apparently fallen down in the wind storms we had several weeks ago.
Walked to an old spot to over look a field and sat there till about 0900.
Then walked up the mountain always to a acorn grove about 300 yards west of my neighbors deer stand. Saw a buck around noon but by the time I could have determined how many points it had (Can only shoot bucks with a minimum of 3 points on a side) he had vanished. My neighbor saw the buck about 15 minutes later but couldn't determine if he was legal to shoot.
At 1500hrs I heard two shots east of me and thought at first it was my neighbor. My neighbor texted me letting me know that the shots came from
his neighbor about 400 yards east of his stand.
At about 1615 three does walked by west of me at about 50 yards distance. Can't shoot does till this Saturday!
Man O' man Pennsylvania has a lot of rules!
My neighbor and I chatted over a beer about 1700hrs and he saw the a fore mentioned buck and nine does.
So there is deer out there this year!
