Many moons ago there was a member of the Unchainedpreppers community called 1000 meter stare. He worked in North Dakota in the grain harvesting field. Specifically, he worked for a grain collecting company.
During harvesting season, visiting workers from South Africa would come in and run grain harvesting machinery and trucks that ran to the grain elevators scattered along the railroad lines.
He told me that somewhere in the neighborhood of 60% was shipped to ports in Portland, OR. and Seattle, WA. From those ports the assorted grains were put on ships and sent to China. Interesting huh?
Now lets look at pork. Are you aware that Smithfield was bought by China WH Group in 2013? China's WH Group does not share with the public how much pork they export to China however, the last number released back in February 2020 they exported 38.8-million pounds of pork between June and September 2019. This equates to roughly to 168,701 pigs within 3-months.
Pigs like other protein is sent in freezer containers on of course container ships. Now with hundreds of container ships sitting in harbors around the USA waiting to be offloaded, you can see what the Chinese people are facing going into 2022 when it comes to food... Or, lack there of.
Hungry people do drastic things. In China's case, drastic authoritative governments do drastic things.
