Title: So what's a good two way radio to buy for a group?

Like the topic says?  I've used FRS/GMRS radios, and they are just awful.

ThatGuy asked me to mention Marine-grade VHF and UHF radios as a good place to start.  He'll probably give some more in depth info when he gets back this evening, but wanted you to be able to start doing some research if you wanted to.

The first link below gives a quick overview of VHF and UHF radios, and sells the equipment.  The second link is just another vendor from a google search.

Good luck!

But we aware that you'll need license for the amateur bands of 2 meters and 70 cm. The radio does cover the FRS/GMRS frequencies, but it's transmit power might exceed what is allowed on the band. The radio can transmit and receive from 136-174 mHz and 400-480mHz.
