The open band BaoFeng's are like dope. Once you've got some, the more you want. If I was rich, which I'm not, I'd order enough to outfit most every household in my County. I just have to settle for outfitting my neighborhood. When things go South, and we start using them, I'm certain the word will get out and I'll have some, if not all, of the neighbors come looking for radios. I think that it won't be long before the open band radios will all be gone and the other neighbors will be screwed unless they want to buy MURS specific or FRS specific radios if they can even find them. We all know that those 1/2 watt FRS radios are pieces of crap. I guess the FRS will be good enough for a half mile area. If they get lucky, they might find some of the MURS radios but I remember years ago that the JOB ONE radios that operated on MURS were a lot more expensive than the BaoFengs. Years ago, I did a little self analysis and realized that I'm not a good merchant. I can run a store for someone else and make them rich but I can't run a store of my own because I'd give everything away. As a Side Note, when the wife and I bought the ACURA, I didn't want to load the roof up with a bunch of antennas so I bought an open band 25 watt QYT, VHF/UHF dual band so I'd only need one dual band antenna.
