I will be on frequency at least 15-minutes earlier for early check-ins. Remember if the frequency is being used move up the scale till you hear us. I will also post on this subject line the frequency we end up on.

If you can, please RSVP if you are going to attempt to attend. Invite like minded hams and also RSVP for them.

If you would rather receive a a text msg. for the final frequency rather than have to sign on to UP make sure I have your cell number. PM it to me.

Great net tonight and I wish to thank all that participated.

40-meters was best as I suspected for the folks south of the MD-Line. We had two participants NC Scout and DD or as I call him D2. We had to move from the primary up the frequency a bit thanks to a Radio Free ENTER COUNTRY HERE on AM that was spilling over on the original channel of 7.287 Mhz. I think we ended on 7.293 Mhz. 

Then we moved to 75/80-meter alternate and we had two more folks that joined. Jackalope and PK from Unchainedpreppers. PK was in Northern VA. while jackalope was in NE NY. We had a good but short QSO and I closed the net when PK started to go into the weeds.

I would like to thank all that participated in these evening's net. A short AAR from all of you would be GREAT. Remember, even if propagation is poor at the moment, what you learn from trying to connect with these nets is invaluable.

After a few minutes I was able to hear JohnyMac on 7293 call for check ins. The noise was S7-S8 and periodically Jmac would be audible above that. I could not hear NC Scout due to his proximity to me. He is usually inside my skip zone for that time of day on that freq. I gave my report and then lost JMac's signal after that. I did not get the signal to move to 80m but I should have anticipated that anyway.
   As usual we learn things during these nets that we can improve. I would like to get to the point I can anticipate the working frequency when QRM is high. That probably comes from experience operating together and an SOP.
   I was using 60W on a Yaesu 857d using a Chameleon Hybrid Micro Wire antenna. I played around with the filters but was worried I would filter out the weak signal I did get. Due to the noise level standard phaseology and repetition would be helpful real world. My voice reports need to be more concise and formatted, perhaps using AMRRON standard reports.

    On 40 meters I could sometimes hear N4L-- , and I didn't hear Johny at all.  On 75 meters I could hear Johny loud and clear.  I could hear PK at times, but he was right at the noise level.  I adjusted both filters and the pre-amp in an effort to get a solid copy.  Rig here is an Icom IC-9100 with a 75 meter dipole.

  Propagation is what it is.  Don't forget we're at the bottom of the solar cycle, so conditions will improve eventually.

Oh I hear ya' Jackalope.
For the record, I was using my TS- 590S and three antennas at one time or another. 1) NVIS, 2) my Home brew multi-band, and 3) a inverted "L" that I use for my 160-meter QSO's. On this antenna I have a MFJ manual tuner at the feed point. The best seemed to be number 2. On 75/80-meters and # 2 & 3 on 40-meters.

I was using a Palstar manual tuner on # 1 & 2 and the 590S internal tuner for # 3

I was outside just getting ready to hoist my 40M inverted V, and the lightning/thunder started.  So, discretion being the better part of valor...
