November 2022 ERIN Net SOI

Here is the SOI for this coming Tuesday's net. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE MOVING FROM 40-METERS TO 75/80 METERS FOR 2000 HRS. EASTERN PHONE NET. The November primary phone net frequency will now be 3.964 Mhz LSB up or down the band a few clicks till we find clear air.

The next ERIN net will be Tuesday November 29, 2022, starting at 1900 hrs. eastern with the digital ERIN net. The PACE for that net is as follows,

1) At 1900 hrs. eastern the digital net (I am on frequency at 1850 hrs eastern) will commence.

Primary         3.588 Mhz USB Contestia 4/250 1000 on the Waterfall
Alternate       7.110 Mhz USB Contestia 4/250 1000 on the Waterfall

When the Net Control Station (NCS) calls for check-in's this is the reporting format,

de your call/name/location/emergency traffic/ de your call

Once the NCS has gathered check-in's he/she will post the check-in's for corrections or additional check-in's.

The NCS will then start the reports portion of the digital net. Report format will be,

de your call/name/location/traffic if any/your report for around your AO, Covid, unrest, military movement, etc/weather/de your call

Suggestion...Pre type out your report then copy & paste it to your FLdigi when it is your time to give your report.

2) At 2000 hrs (I am typically on frequency at 1950 hrs. eastern) the voice net will commence.

Primary         3.964 Mhz LSB or higher till clear air
Alternate       7.279 Mhz LSB or higher till clean air

The above SOI will be used at first, if the interwiz is taken down through Executive Order -- Assignment of National Security and Emergency Preparedness Communications Functions. Then we will develop and share a revised SOI.

Good, not great however good net.

There was a Spanish speaking station that was using some serious watts just south on the band of us. The QRM was terrible.

Anyway, my local buddy KC2XXX and I went searching for a new frequency and we found 3.964 which was clear and free of QRM. He runs a net Monday night on that frequency and tonight it was clear after the ERIN net too.

So there you go. It was great hearing some new calls on both the digital and phone net.

The wife and I were out and about this afternoon and we finished off with eating supper at a restraunt and I got home just in time to catch the ERIN net. There was a good bit off floor noise but I could hear everyone just fine by using the noise filter. It was a good net even though I like to see more people participate.

I could hear everyone okay, though I usually copy tonight's participants well on most net evenings.  Initially, on 3.964 I had QRM at 59+30.  I'm glad the NCS moved the net down a bit, as it made everyone copy-able.

We need a radio Icon!

I heard everybody between OK and great.

I hate moving the net around to different frequencies because I like consistency however, by moving to 3.961 Mhz from 3.964, there was minimal QRM.

I'm tuned to CONTESTIA 4/250, 3.588 Mhz USB DATA and I wasn't getting anything. Then, at 7:10, I started hearing and seeing something. I can't transmit DATA yet because my program sucks. I'll wait for the 8:00PM voice net and jump in there.

Good signals and easy copy for me here near the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia on the digital net. We do have the expected QRM from being parked on WINLINK stations and when they activate, it causes serious interference here.  There is also the problem of sharing the same freqs with AmRRON and maybe other preppers. This requires thought and a plan.  If things go bad, then winlink and Amroon will also be very active in most situations and we would like to do the same... might be not enough time on freqs for all of us.  Maybe we should spread out slightly?

 Later, had a nice, though brief QSO in Morse with a French station.  He was LOUD!  The 2 element FORTY METER YAGI at 75' and 1000 Watts might have something to do with it.  haha  I've seen a forty meter band Yagi-Uda once, and i simply could not believe it. My80 meter Off-Center-Fed dipole up maybe 30 feet at center works for my needs, for the moment.

Winlink is pretty much everywhere now, there are at least 6 winlink nodes on 3.588. The issue is inconsiderate operators clicking connect anyway when they get the frequency is busy warning. I figure for SHTF, those inconsiderate operators will be gone in a few days .

As you all know (or do now), I am also an AmRRON CORPs member and NCS. IMO, the overlap is a good thing. If people have to monitor multiple frequencies for multiple things, that becomes difficult to do.

I tried suggesting that to AHRN folks (AMCON Ham Radio Network) saying that I can't monitor both the AHRN and AmRRON frequencies at the same time, so I just monitor AmRRON because I know those folks are out there listening. I've seen a few of the regulars for the ERIN net check into the AmRRON nets before, and I think thats a good thing. Participate where you can see and be heard.

Thank you Obh for filling in as NCS for the digital ERIN net. You rock! After reading Obh's great AAR, it seems that shelves are stocked, fuel prices are dropping slightly, and over all in the retail world, prices are way up.
