Ummmm.... actually his antenna may be part of the issue. It's a NVIS antenna, so its emissions are specifically designed for close radio contacts. A general purpose dipole will cover a broader area, the NVIS a closer area. I could hear Dana, but he was right at the noise level, which is to be expected given the distance and the antenna. So his NVIS antenna is working well. The IC-7200 was doing a good job, that's a great, simple, rugged radio, I've got a couple of them.
I could hear everyone well this evening. Johny, which antenna were you using? The new radio has sharper audio, which cuts through the background noise better. I'd say that's the one you should use for nets.
