A Ham friend gave me his ICOM IC R7000 receiver because he had replaced it with a more expensive one. Say what? An IC R7000 originally cost $900 and the remote control cost another $100. I don't know what ICOM he replaced it with but it must have been a real doozy. The IC R7000 covers 25 Mhz through about 1.2 GHz. I put up a new antenna today that will cover 25 Mhz and up. All was going well until I started running some RG8 up through the ceiling and across the ceiling rafters and out of the eave. Wham!!! I slipped in the attic and scrapped the crap out of my shin(about 6 inches long and 3/4" wide). Nope... That didn't stop me. I was on a mission. I hooked everything up and it worked fine. Hey!!! Why does my shin sting? Oh, I forgot, I ran to the bathroom and loaded the abrasion up with antiseptic. Hmmmmmm…… I wasn't expecting it to sting that much, but it did. I can now listen to AM, FM, FM narrow, and SSB. In SSB mode I can copy CW. It has a switch on the back that lets you choose Upper SB or Lower SB. I set it for upper SB. I actually heard a WA4 station on 6 meters doing CW.
