Title: Go-bag radio?
Post by: crudos on December 06, 2011, 03:19:13 PM
Anybody carry a AM/FM radio in their bag(s)? I remember having and seeing deck of cards-sized transistor radios as a kid (in 1970's, yeah, I'm old). Thing is the tuning dial on those old cheapo radios would be the first thing to go. Is there any decent modern equivalents? Wouldn't even need it to have a speaker, as I could just use some iPod earbuds to plug in.

I have two hand cranks, they are little things, got a flashlight, radio, emergency blinking light, AM/FM, and a carry handle.
They aren't that heavy, so I have one in my wife's bag and one in mine.

I carry a Sony walkman AM/FM radio in my bag. It is not the walkman of yore with the tape deck just AM/FM.

It is smaller than a deck of playing cards and only uses 1 AAA battery which is good for 40 hours of play time give or take.

I think its a good idea to be able to 'connect' with the media and see what they are reporting. I am expecting a number of 'jocks' to step up.

I have one but it's an et?n hand crank.  Also has SW radio rec.  But I would look into spending the money on a ccrane as they have generally better reception than the cheapies lol
