What? More Baofengs? I have about 15 Baofengs. Four of them are 8 watters. The rest are 5 watters. I just ordered 2 more 8 watters because I think the Tariff problem will make them harder to get or be a lot more expensive. They were 2 complete radio packages for $56 total. That's the same price as two 5 watters. Why do I have so many of them? Well, they're so cheap, I can instantly replace one if it breaks and I also want to have a large supply of 5 watters to pass out to my family and neighbors in case of an emergency. Which neighbors will I pass them out to? Only the one's who are armed and can be useful in an emergency. Fortunately, I live out in the Country and won't have to worry about urban protection methods. Since my neighbors and family members aren't Hams, I programmed all the non licensed frequencies into them. I programmed them with CHIRP and the upper "A" display shows the alphanumeric such as MURS 1 etc. and the lower "B" display shows the frequency. So far all my relatives have been given a pair of radios. Do my neighbors know that I'm a prepper? Yep. Do they know how much stuff I have? Nope, and I'm going to keep it that way. By the way...… I've been using UV5R's for several years and I've never had one quit on me. Extra batteries? You bet your butt I have a ton of extra batteries. Some standard size and some large size. Get 'em while they're still available.
