Richmond, va. FROSTFEST
« on: February 01, 2020, 01:06:55 PM »
Well I went to the Richmond FROSTFEST(wintertime hamfest) today. Lots of nice stuff there. It looked like everybody that was selling used gear was pricing it high so they could wheel and deal. I bought a couple of odds and ends like PL259 silver plated plugs, a male to male adapter for SO 239 connections, a 30 amp (new in the box) Ampmeter for $5, and an old 2 meter amplifier for $20. The amp was 6 watts in and 45 watts out. I hope it works. I plan to put it in the wife's car because I run a handi-talkie in there. There were a lot of people there but not as bad as in the past. In the past it has been so crowded you couldn't move or see anything.

Well, my $20  two meter amp wants to work but won't. If I put one watt in, I hear the relay click and a bout 5 watts comes out. If I put 5 watts in , I hear the relay click and I get 5 watts out. Hmmmm... That's not supposed to happen. Well, my days of chasing voltages with a multimeter are long since past but I have ham friend who likes amps and maybe hell take look at it for me. Otherwise, its headed for the trsh bin.
