Our Fight With Covid-19, In A Nutshell
« on: August 13, 2021, 11:24:15 AM »
As some of you are aware, MrsMac and I have had the Covid-19 virus for the past thirteen days. Thirteen days of pure hell.

Upon my return from the low light training class on Sunday August 1st, I noticed that MrsMac had a rattling cold. By Tuesday she was not getting better and had a temperature of over 100-degrees, so I coaxed her to visit the emergency room for observation. After many tests "they" determined that she had Covid. We were sent home with instructions to take Tylenol every four hours and drink plenty of fluids. The physician suggested that I get tested for covid also.

Wednesday, the next day, I was tested for Covid-19. The doctor told me that the results would not be ready for 24-hours however, he was pretty sure that I had the virus. My symptoms by this time were,

> Low level fever,
> Lack of taste,
> Aches and pains especially lower back pain,
> Upper respiratory hack,
> General weakness,
> Sweats, and
> Diarrhea.

The following day I received a phone call letting me know that I had in fact had the Covid virus and it was recommended that I receive the Regeneron's monoclonal antibody COVID-19 treatment. That was Thursday, but I did not receive the treatment till the following Tuesday - Five days later. In short, my doctor was on vacation and his fill-in did not feel confident enough to approve the therapy.

Anyway, within an hour after I received the infusion, I started to feel better. Not great but better. Food started to taste good, and my list of ailments started to diminish.

Today, thirteen days after I started to show Covid virus symptoms, I am about 95%. MrsMac told me this morning that she is 100%. We both enjoyed our first cup of coffee this morning since the beginning of this drama, so we are on the mend for sure.

This morning I received a phone call from the PA. Dept. of Health. They are really on top of things huh? Anyway, I answered their questions with the exception of giving names of folks leading up to the beginning of our drama. The Health Dept. nurse gave us the go ahead to reenter society starting today. Isn't that nice of her.  :sarcasm:

So there you go.

Really glad to hear you're both doing better! And now you have acquired immunity! Did either of you take anything prior to visiting the hospital? Glad the Regeneron worked, did you go to the local hospital or one north or south? We used to joke about your local hospital being the "dog and cat hospital", a paramedic from the city didn't believe us until she went there with us and we had to bring supplies into the ER from the ambulance, because they didn't have them.  They have gotten somewhat better over the years though.

Johny,
It's good that you're making a good recovery.  Several of our MAG have had it, and they reported some long term effects, like fatigue and susceptibility to colds, etc.  Hopefully you won't experience any long term problems.  Now you you can get back to work!  LOL

Take it easy and stay safe!  The Chinese virus has exploded locally, the local medical center is putting patients in hallways according to one of their employees.  Think about it, how many natural cold or flu viruses have been active during the summer months?  I remember TPTB saying, " flatten the curve, it's only for two weeks."  And last year the theory was the virus would die out during the summer months.  These weaponized viruses are going to be with us forever.  Wait until this winter when the killer variant goes rampant.  Stock up now, avoid the rush!

Glad that you and Mrs. Mac made it relatively unscathed.  Any further thoughts on the vax?

Glad you're both doing better

Haven't you been taking zinc and vitamin D as a preventative? Maybe it was someone else here??

Thank you all for your concern and comments.

@FF, 90% of our Dr.'s are out of Lourdes so we went north. The only thing we have been taking is high levels of Vitamin D, zinc, and an aspirin daily since this whole thing began back in February 2020. We have the "pony paste" (Ivermectin) and hydroxychloroquine. We did take the hydroxychloroquine in the beginning however after a few days we stopped as it did not seem to help. Believe it or not, the Tylenol did help. At least in keeping our temps close to normal.

I took my infusion protocol at Lourdes in Binghamton. It was administered in a room that the air was replaced every 6-minutes. The staff were all dressed up in full PPE suits and stuff. The infusion took ~ 30-minutes however, I had to lay there and be monitored for 1-hour post the procedure.

@Jackalope, Funny story...I received a call from the PA Dept of Health today inquiring about our Covind. Boy are they on top of things or what? LOL. Anyway, when I pushed the nurse about needing to get The Jab, she told me that it would not be necessary as the antibodies that run through our veins was better than any vaxx. She did suggest that we monitor the overall Covid cases as we move into the winter and if things get worse. She then suggested we might want to take one shot of the two shot vaxx set. That plus our natural immunity would protect us from what is coming this winter. I can assure you, We will not be taking The Jab.

@Grizz Thank you Grizz. Yes, we have been taking vitamin D, zinc, and an aspirin daily. So far we have been great. We must of got caught up in a bad Covin-19 vapor cloud which was too much for our probiotic protocol I guess. Heck we both got it about the same time.

Bottom-line, it was a serious kick in our butt. We made it through thanks to the help we got from each other. Believe it or not, the Tylenol and cases of water we drank did help a bunch.

Thoughts on should have got jab a few months back idea?   I am getting a bit more push on getting jab myself.

As far as getting jabbed, should I get it, it would be the single jab J&J which is a non-mRNA vaccine.

Relieved to hear you and the Mrs. have come out on the other side mostly on the OK side.   Not knowing but suspecting/fearing is a heavy load.   As I recall though, when I had COVID last year the urge to post often was, uh, somewhat "diminished".  :-)
Having earned our immunity, it's all the harder to listen to people telling us what we should and shouldn't do, when all they really "know" is what the tribal drums are beating.

Although I still have a cough that will not go away, my situation changed 100% on Saturday. I was sitting at our ham clubs booth at the county fair when I felt hungry. I tried to push down the urge to eat something for about 1/2 an hour, when I gave up and ordered up a Strawberry Shortcake. It tasted GREAT!

Then I wondered off and bought a hotdog. That tasted great too.

Taste envy here.   :-)
I'm apparently in the "long-hauler" category, sense of smell/taste still severely damaged over a year later.   I've thought about going to doctor for advice but what, realistically could he/they do?
Most unfortunate - my ability to  evaluate my distillates in whisky-making learning curve means that while I can still feel the effect but not making best product to be proud of?     And yes, I miss my former ability to smell animals, far away smoke, etc.   An important sense that used to be very acute - gone.   Lost forever?

I will take it easy tomorrow (Thursday). \"/

Heck, with a 21-day forced vacation, there is a shiton of things to get done around here. Oh well, MrsMac and I should have had a son or two. Hind-sight is 20/20 huh?

I'm really pissed off. Even Stevie Wonder should be able to see that anything that works must be banned. This whole thing is about population reduction and the Vaccine Bullies need a foot planted in their asses. It would appear that the entire population of Dumb Masses have drunk the Kool Ade.

This whole CCP Virus drama is President O'Biden's hill to die on.

Mark my word...

There will be a Federal vaxx passport mandate. You will not be able to go into any Federal building without showing your vaxx passport, even the post office. There is a mask mandate in all Federal building's today.

Then, progressive states will follow with vaxx passports for state building's. If you work for the state you will need a vaxx passport to work for the state, like state police.

Sorry to get off on this tangent.

Yeah, the passport is great.  Just a tiny little tube that goes in the top of your left arm, just below the elbow.  Quick, easy, like getting a shot.  Won't hurt much and only sore for a day or two.

Easy to just wave your arm by one of the big pads inside the entrance and you are clear.  No problem, quick, easy, efficient.

It'll be great, everyone will be safe and life will be so much better.

We routinely "micro-chip" puppies before homing them.   It has, in past, reconnected lost pets with family.
The chip is about same size as a small grain of rice, the needle bore used to get beneath the hide is BIG (according to my eyes) and can cause a wound that bleeds for a moment or two.    But that's it.  Puppies aren't particularly stressed and the bleeding stops very quickly (if it bleeds much at all)

Whut's not to like?
We won't have to carry around "papers"!!!!

Bwahahaha..... Under the skin chips? What a load of crap. If they ever try to put a chip in me, They'll have to knock my ass out and do it while I'm asleep. My dead dog is buried on the edge of my yard and getting a chip should be easy enough. Maybe I'll just strap it to my arm under a band aid. Anything and everything I can do to foil the system will be used. How about this for an Idea. Swap chips with males to females. That ought to leave them scratching their heads. Get chips from dead people and use them. :what: The one thing that the general public is most ignorant about is that NOBODY can force you to reveal anything in your medical history.

JOB??? What's that? I haven't had a job since 2002. Any business that requires anything from me does not get my business. Since I'm a prepper, I go to stores and Restaurants for what I want, not for what I need. Hmmm.... I wonder if AMAZON will require a chip in order to order stuff? If you really feel that you need something from a STORE, then get one of your soon to be dead vaccinated friends to buy it for you. I see a lot of Law Suits coming and a lot of Flea Market sales. I am not afraid and I will not Go along to get along.
