Need Some Medial Advise
« on: March 06, 2018, 11:55:15 AM »
I do realize that...

“Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks.” - Simone Elkeles ...but I just have to ask this question.

When hoisting my 160-meter, inverted 'L' antenna this December I hurt my right shoulder. To this day when ever I try to throw a ball for my dog, raise my right arm to scratch my back, et cetera the area that includes my Deltoid pectoralis minor, and trapezius muscles kills me. On occasion the pain is so sever I think I see stars.

I could go to the Doctor and pay out a shitton (Accounting term) for a soft tissue xray or solicit this illustrious opinions on what I have and maybe a cure.

Thoughts?

Torn Rotator Cuff, Tricep or Deltoid based on that limited info.

While touching your chest (palm side to chest) can you lift your upper arm/elbow above about horizontal?

Thumb poking into top of shoulder-- can you point elbow above horizontal?

Does relaxed shoulder height match other side?

I bet it hurts (alot and maybe more than alot) to do those, and shoulder height is dropped some or much, giving more basis for my initial assessment.  How long till medicare kicks in?  You probably need cut to fix it.

If doc says cut, sooner is better.

Thx Nemo. Here are some answers to your questions in bold.

While touching your chest (palm side to chest) can you lift your upper arm/elbow above about horizontal? Yes, however it is painful.

Thumb poking into top of shoulder-- can you point elbow above horizontal? Yes, uncomfortable but not painful.

Does relaxed shoulder height match other side? Yes

I am not part of the Obama Care cabal and medicare is three years off so surgery is a bit out of the equation. My hope is that I can find some exercises I could do, like in physical therapy that might help me to repair what I did naturally.

Thank you for your interest and suggestions Nemo.

Did it to my left shoulder and the Doc gave me a cortisone shot. Fixed it right up. Did it to my right shoulder but this Doc would not give me a shot and it took more than six months to feel much better. Still hurts at times.
Go see a doctor it might just be needing a cortisone shot.

Johny, it may be worth seeing a doctor, you don't want to have medical issues, if TSHTF tomorrow.  It pays to maintain yourself in the best condition possible, because some day advanced medical treatment may not be available.  I hate spending money on doctors, but it may save money in the long run (I'm saying that after a run to the doctor this afternoon).

I would strong suspect I am at least close to right on diagnosis.  But GO SEE THE DAYUM DOC!  Good one can get more from hands on exam and manipulation than x-ray.

Either way you can get much more, better and quality info than you can from this bunch.  Besides I thought you were talking about your dog's hind leg issue.

Spend the initial assessment fee
.  You might be surprised what those guy that go to real doctor school can tell you.  And you will have more info to make a better decision and basis for it.

But if necessary I do have a bottle of Glenlivet and a sharp knife!  2 other guys from here are not real far away, to assist in holding you on the table so .  .  ..
