Title: Medical Monday Topics
Post by: mechmedic on December 11, 2019, 04:47:04 AM
I have officially run out of topic ideas from the list I was given when I first brought up the idea. So hit me with some more ideas! It doesn't even need to be about an injury set. It can be about interventions or gear as well! Hell, they can even be about concepts related to APC or Guerilla medicine.

a common cause of serious illness in a disaster is waterborne bugs.  how about prevention, diagnosis and treatment?   I don't think a lot of people get, that splashing around in their favorite swimming hole once a summer is very different from drinking that same water on a daily basis.

Or vector borne illness.  people unexpectedly forced outdoors during a disaster will be exposed in ways their daily experience won't prepare them for.

F-O illness - how many urbanites today understand hygiene outdoors?

in most disasters - dealing with the environment after the disaster is as dangerous as the cause of the disaster.

The wife and I have been prepping since 2008. Gee, I wonder what motivated that? Anyway, we loaded up on everything we could think of and then got extras. One thing we got besides lots of medicine was biohazard suits and gas masks. I bought Potassium Iodide pills and a Geiger counter also. We also have an abundant supply of surgical masks and both types of rubber gloves. You might do some things concerning medical devices and alternatives when none are available.
