Is this how it starts? The Flu.

A friend of a friend just passed away from the flu and my friend posted about it on Facebook.  I'm not sure how old he was - my friend said "someone younger than me" and she's in her mid-forties.  It's sad for his family (he had young kids), but it sent a shiver down my back because it's these kinds of things that start popping up at the beginning of a pandemic.  I know more than half a dozen people in my company, scattered across the country since we're all work from home, who've had the flu in the last month.  A couple of them have had to go to the hospital.

This just hit that "is this one of the signs?" button for me.

Wellie, I am sorry for your loss and your friends loss.

As you know our own Special-K has just come through a bad bought with the flu. He is a young fit guy so we know that the flu can take anyone of any age.

Personally, other than SK I have not heard of any of my acquaintances or friends come down with it this year. This article shows the heaviest hit states so far this year. I do not know if any of the folks you know who have gotten flu are from these area's.

You all on the forum may want to check this out and take precautions if appropriate.

Sadly I cant find the link, but the amount of deaths attributed to annual flu is astounding.
It would be nice if the government revealed those statistics more publicly instead of hiding them just to make "swine flu" look like something special.
