I'd be getting detached tendosn from my elbows with that many pull ups.
I do pull ups... but not so many and most of them assisted (otherwise I get overuse injuries in my elbows)

I am hoping to start a new PT challenge soon.  I was on a fairly robust work out regement when I was a Firefighter/Paramedic and increased my cardio in preperation for training at Max Velocity.  Two months after retirering I was diagnosed with stage three adenocarcinoma and have been through some pretty exhaustive treatments over the last two years. I am currently diagnosed as stage four and undergoing an agressive trial medication. Through my faith in God and support of my family I stand firm that I will be healed. I am looking forward to starting a good cardio workout and then slowly start strength training.  Cancer sucks and so far I have lost all body fat and probably 50% of my strength.  Be strong and work to maintain physical fitness because you never know what may happen.  I beleive that if I was not in such good shape when I got the cancer I would probably not be hear now.  At 62 years old the doctors and nurses could not beleive I had a resting hear rate in the 50s and BP of a fit 18 year old.

I am saddened to read about your health SemperParatus. I am reminded daily how the good Lord prepares us for challenges that come down the pike.

One of my sons and I attended the classes that are now called "Heat-1 & Heat-2". My son is also a firefighter paramedic and a beast when it comes to cross fit training. He wore a AR-500 plate carrier through the whole class and got disciplined for a neglegent discharge and knocked out 25 pull ups in full gear.  I was 58 at the time and in pretty good shape.  I wore a black hawk armored vest with ceramic plates through the class.  If any of you have the chance I would highly recommend Max's classes, he and his crew are excellent trainers and provide realistic small unit tactics training that is run in a very safe maner.

I am actually doing this challenge tonight at the gym. I had planned to do it before I saw this post, but now I will be sure to time it and report the time back here.

Update:

I did not add the 20lb vest, just to be clear. My goal was to do it in under 2 hours. My endurance is my weak link and that is where my focus is now. I can lift fairly heavy but when I string a ton of reps together I get winded.

I did it in 1:52:33:49.

As far as I can tell, my heart was basically in the 140-165 bpm the whole time. The 1 mile run to start was pretty easy. I did it at 5.5mph. Then, I did the routine in 20 sets of 5 pullups, 10 pushups, and 15 air squats. To my surprise, my legs were the first to fatigue. The run gave them a workout before my upper body. I lift very heavy on legs, but the high rep count overruled that. I was drinking some amino acids and waxy maize carbs during the workout. My pull up grip was mostly overhand but I did alternate to underhand towards the ends. The pushups were by far the easiest.

There were two guys there who I talk to all the time. They did it yesterday, so they were encouraging me which helped a lot. The last mile run was full of my calves almost cramping, so I took shorter steps at a slower pace of 4.5 mph.

This routine goes to show you that just those three exercises are plenty for most people. Add in some light dumbbells and a weighted ruck and you are good to go. Of course, working in stuff like deadlifts are obviously beneficial, but you have no excuse not to get in shape using only body weight exercises.

I learned that endurance is my focus this summer. It didn't help that I did a fair bit of drinking this weekend, but that is no excuses.

Yeah I am way more likely to lift than run even though lifting and getting to the gym takes more effort overall. I just really don't like running but I have seen some improvement which is nice. If I am working on endurance during lifting, I am doing lots of low weight high rep work with short rest times (45 secs) or a bunch of super sets.
