Anxiety
« on: January 12, 2021, 05:28:39 PM »
The anxiety in my house is so thick you need a chainsaw to go from room to room. My wife and I believe that President Trump has already signed the Insurrection Act and now we are waiting for him to act on it. It is driving us crazy waiting for him. The only news we can get is MSM fake news. I thought the President would say something today with his wall speech, but nothing, not even a hint. :deadHorse:
In principle, no less than in practice, socialism is the ideology of thieves and tyrants.

Just a different slant on the drama happening around us these days.

MrsMac and I were at our Monday night Bible Study class. There was a lot of talk like yours Jojo before and after the class. Then one of the ladies said, "I am at 100% calm night now. What ever is going to happen is being controlled by the good Lord."

Last night, as we often do, MrsMac and I prayed for the country and our President. We are giving up to what ever happens, to Him.

Today, I walked around with no anxiety. Typed up a few articles and started planning some improvements around the cabin in the spring.

Got my 'mis en place' list together to build a 6-meter Moxon antenna.

We have control over what we have control over. The other crap, not so much.

73 & God Bless

Yep, the wife is a bit edgy about all this but I just remind her that we are preppers will probably survive this like nothing ever happened. Also, I have always lived with the notion that the Lord expects me to handle what I can handle and he will handle everything else.

The anxiety I feel is one of a noose closing in.  I don't put any faith in Trump.  He can not, by law, invoke the Insurrection Act.  That power was stripped from him in the Omnibus act passed over his veto.  He now has to get approval of Congress to invoke it- and he won't get it.
What you should feel anxiety about in my opinion is the Big Tech companies silencing forums like this.   If our forums, our voices get silenced, we will be largely unable to communicate- unless you've done ham or similar like so many folks. Even then, it could be spotty at best. With lack of communication in place it will be far easier to move to eliminate threats to the left. Such as the 2A community and any allied groups- like preppers.  After all, to them we're a dangerous fringe group. They need an enemy to survive and push their agendas, and guess what, we're it.  I'm afraid its the 11th hour and there's a long long night ahead.

Just so you and the readers know, I have two fire walls installed into UP. If the front one goes down there is a backup.

The next thing to communicate is in fact old fashion ham radio. I get so tired of folks (Not picking on anyone here) who keep putting off getting their ticket. Once you are a Tech, that is when the true learning starts because you use the equipment not just read it in a book.

I am thinking of starting a tech Zoom class. It would run 3-nights a week for 4-weeks. Three-hours each class. It would cost me money to have a Zoom classification to handle 3 hours at a time and 'X' number of students. I don't know, it would be a lot of work. I will think about it.

The last thing is Pirate radio. Get a van and start traveling to keep the Blue helmet or CCP troops in the dark.

Thanks Brother.

MrsMac and I have made some changes in our lives that I will share with the UP members.

1) We use a radio alarm clock. The radio only picks up a few stations so for the past five or so years we have been listening to NPR. Well over the last five years it has gone from a station that carried interesting reports besides the news and weather to a station that is 100% doom & gloom. Chinese virus this and Trump that. Oh and a little global warming for spice. As of January 1, 2021, we turned it off and started listening to a very local Christian station.

The news is mostly local with a small amount of national news for spice. The news is the news. There is no politicking when reading it, and the weather is very local. I never really listened to Christian music before, but the tunes seem to fall into the Christian rock mode and the not very often reading of scripture is nice.

The effect is neither MrsMac nor I drag our old butts out of bed with an attitude anymore. I often drift back off to sleep after hearing the 0600 hrs news and weather report.

2) Along with the radio trick, we stopped for the most part national news. If we do, it is Newsmax or OAN but when the commentating part starts, we switch it off. We do listen to the first hour of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh but that is it.

We also listen to The Five while I make dinner and then Bret Baier during dinner. Baier is out though now as he has become very dishonest too.

Thursday night towards the end of his program he always has 3-4 talking heads on. Well one of the regulars was using a computer camera to join in and low and behold over his right shoulder, above the fireplace was a big ass picture of Mao. WOW, there was no hiding where his leanings leaned. The program cut to a commercial and when these amazing commentators came back on, the angle of the communist one had changed, and you could not see Mao over his right shoulder anymore.

Other than The Five the only other hour we watch on FoxNews now is Tucker Carlson. But if we miss him oh well there is always the next day.

Bottom-line, were once the MSM made up 90% of our listening or watching time my guess now is that we only spend maybe 20% of our time there. The result is a lot less anxiety in our home.

Boy that was a wordy post...Sorry.

It was a good post, Johny.  It's good to hear how others are coping.

We rarely watch any TV, like maybe an hour or two every couple of months.  One reason for that is due to location and topography, we're limited to 7 terrestrial direct stations.  The only time we listen to the radio is when we're driving somewhere long distance.

I have noticed that my wife is listening to more religious music from her Iphone, usually Buddhist chants, so i don't understand the details, but I get the concept.

We haven't been particularly anxious, and we've been sleeping well.  Our attitude is "Que sera, sera."  I can't change things external to my immediate area, so I accept that.  We do our daily chores and other projects, which keeps us occupied.  Amateur radio is one of my diversions, and it's entertaining to listen to others around the world.  Occasionally, I listen to the scanner, and that's been entertaining too, as there are locals who use a FRS channel as their intercom, while not realizing others can be overhearing their conversations. No PERSEC!

I've got a good friend that has become overwhelmed by recent events.  He hasn't been getting much sleep as he obsesses over world events.  The dude needs to get some hobbies and a woman.

Don't get stressed over the things you cannot change.  It does seem that everything is politicized.  However, we visited with neighbors yesterday and nothing political was mentioned, it was refreshing.
