These F/A Bolt carriers are US Air Force contract overruns, so literally "mil-spec" in every sense of the phrase. They are made by ToolCraft, which supposedly is the sole provider of bolt carriers for FN. Depending on the quantities, I can probably get them out the door $75-80 shipped. Brand new, properly staked, etc, etc. These are completely legal to own. Most "top quality" (LMT, DD, BCM, etc) go for about $90+shipping. Colts are insanely expensive, so not even worth making that comparison.Anyways, they were specifically made for use in Air Force M4s, so you know the quality is there.Without going into a long-winded lecture on the pluses of F/A carriers, (in theory) the increased mass slows the action which helps with reliability in feeding and extraction. Some find them to increase reliability, some don't notice a difference. I run F/A carriers in all of my ARs, after having some extraction problems with crap ammo.Do you need to switch to a F/A carrier? Probably not. I think the "target market" would be for those of us who plan on building more rifles down the road, or those who see the benefit of having spare parts readily available.
