Signs. "Support Our Troops", "Hot Dogs, 2 For A Dollar", "Go Team", "Turn Left", "Watch Your Step", "Right Turn Only", "Free Admission", "Handicap Parking". I could go on and on. There are MILLIONS of signs used everyday, by ALL of us. Helpful, informative, used to convey feelings, directions, warnings, etc. Then there are signs that cut to the quick, invoke a certain emotion in all of us, good or bad. Yet, these signs, as disturbing as they can be, are LEGAL. It is our 1st Amendment right to make, have, or show these signs. If they bother you, oh well, they are our 1st Amendment right. UNTIL NOW! You've all seen the Westboro Baptist's signs. "Than God for IEDs", "Thank God for 911", and to some, even "Thank God" is offensive. Maybe it's time to get rid of the 1st Amendment, after all, even though signs are used by all of us, it is plain to see that some of them are misused and despised by probably 99% of us. You could argue that signs are used by responsible people everyday, and they don't offend anybody. You could argue that signs don't kill anybody. I'm sure that somebody has been looking at a sexy woman on a billboard and hit somebody else head-on. Or somebody has been confused by a traffic sign and ended up killing somebody or has been killed themselves. Nope, it's time to get rid of the 1st Amendment. Maybe Obama can put Joe Biden in charge of a task force to look into the harm the 1st Amendment is doing. He could take violence out of movies, he could stop "Occupy Wall Street". He could stop pesky letters to the government. If Hollywood and the mainstream media doesn't like it, well, they're just going to have to understand. They'll just have the offensive signs to thank. We can't continue to go to work and school, worrying that the 1st Amendment is going to be used by some irresponsible individual. The government needs to step in right now and tell us what we can say, if and when we can pray, and to what we can pray to. After all, what did we elect these people in to office for in the first place? Come on Washington, do your job!
