I dont mean to be the odd man out guys. But does anyone here actually think that China And russia together can match the most advanced, largest and well funded navy in the world. I mean really china's still using ww2 era equipment in their naval vessels. And russia hasnt had any major spending on their navy since the late 80's. Not to mention that china bought a bunch of Russias mothball fleet back in the 90's. Im not worried about any surface ships thay have. and the both sub fleets combined couldnt counter the atlantic fleet. Just MHO.
I wouldn't count out either sub fleet for a minute, they've snuck up on our carrier groups many times.
Yeah we have a big fleet but no means to replace it.
It takes us YEARS to built nimitz-class carriers, we are too slow.
How long do you think we can protect 11 carriers in a WW3 scenario against two of the biggest and quietest sub fleets out there?
Think about how many ships China could turn out under a wartime economy? Not to mention the fact any naval conflict with China will be on their home turf (South China Sea) and within range of their anti-ship missile batteries. I doubt there would be any fleet-on-fleet engagements like the past, beyond visual range weaponry and subs will be the backbone of any Chinese/Russian counterattack.
Seriously, don't count out the Russians, many nations have made the same mistake.
The Carriers may be nuclear but the rest of the battle group isn't, we would have to worry about shipping Tankers from OPEC nations to feed our war effort and I have a feeling Iran wouldn't make that easy.
