Gun Confiscation - Is it even possible?
« on: February 10, 2015, 02:37:17 PM »
Many gun rights advocates fear confiscation. Think about the process of actually gaining procession of the weapons.

 1. In the US there are about 50 million households than own one or more of the 300 million guns. (2010)
 2. There are 900,000 sworn law enforcement officers (LEO) at federal, state and local level. (recent but year unknown)
 3. This means EACH officer would have to collect the guns of over 50 households.
 4. Some officers would refuse or obstruct the process, leaving willing officers to visit even more households. (My guess is the most common form of obstruction would be foot dragging, lol.)
 5. It would take more than one officer and maybe even a full SWAT team to collect guns from many of the households. Think time, money and possible lives.  If 2% of households were willing to fight for their guns, that would be 1,000,000 sieges with >10 million LEO lives on the line, probably more civilians and a hell of a lot of time and money.
 6. Many guns would not be where expected because of old records, owner address changes, and gifted, sold or stolen pieces.
 7. The whereabouts and ownership of millions of guns is just plain unknown. For a paranoid government, obtaining those unknown weapons would be the most critical for the success of the mission.  I don't think any of us fear the guns we know about more than the ones we don't.
 8. LEOs would have to accomplish this IN ADDITION to their regular duties.

In these tight budgetary times, government just doesn't have the time, money and personnel to confiscate guns. IMHO, it can't happen. It is a waste of my time to worry about it.

1) It is happening now in the state of New York under the SAFE ACT. As I have posted before, my cabin is close to the NY border. I only
receive NY radio stations. I hear at least once a week of firearms being confiscated because of the SAFE ACT.

Specifically, when a person is given a prescription for X drug they are confiscated. Or if a family member receives a prescription off of
the "bad list" firearms are confiscated. I have also heard on the radio firearms being confiscated because a felon lives under the
roof of a gun owner EVEN if the owner has no criminal history.

2) Stalin, Hitler, Mao are just three examples of statists who confiscated guns. First was registration then came confiscation.

3) The US government confiscated all Indian fire arms in the later half of the nineteenth century. Do remember the massacre at Wounded Knee?

4) I challenge you and others to read the Trilogy by Matt Bracken Enemies; Foreign & Domestic and/or John Ross's Unintended Consequences.

Really irks me that mine went down by that oil derrick down in the gulf.  Knew I should not have tried to take the boat out that day.  And the last of those 5 guns I had.  Shark shooting just ain't a way to do it.   And wife said to be sure to stay close to shore just in case.  But dumb me went out to the oil derricks area.  Kinda good I sold the others to help pay medical bills.  Shame I do not have those to sell.  I could have gotten $500 or so from them.

If I had gone down I would not have been found.  The water is 6000 feet deep there.  Hate that.  Glad I was able to get the boat upright and ride the tide in to shore.

Nemo, you are truly a lucky man to have survived that derrick incident. I know from scuba diving, those tides can be a bitch. You should really get some lottery tickets, why with your luck, a couple of thousand tickets could probably win you enough to replace those firearms and still pay off the gov't debt and then they'd name a highway or something after you !!!!

Wait, they already did. I bet Reaver knows where this is..........

Why do both posts from here in this list both count as number 430?  How many others are stuck at that number?  I am being discriminated against or bullied?  Who is being the bad guy here and holding me back?  I want to be free to get to my full potential.

But I want to to let everyone (through the govt) support me and help lift me up in the meantime.

Wow that's cool Nemo... 431. Hopefully you play those numbers today.  ;)

I don't know but maybe Special-K or APX could look into it for you.

OK, two posts on this thread now show 431.  I presume that is the total of posts I have made here overall.  Is it that all show my "current number" of posts, but not the number in order?

The post count just displays your total number of posts in the entire forum. Just check any other guy and you'll see they also have the same post count in every post.

Ol JMc sent me a digital copy of john ross's Unintended Consiquences.
Back durring the lock n load days. It is not only a good work of fiction but a history lesson and well other stuff too. But it did show how in this country gun confiscation is a slow moving beast. There are no huge bites taken at the gun owners apple. Its all little nibbless. And many of those nibbles go unnoticed. I have since passes that book onto 6 others. It is a must read. A gun owners Atlas Shrugged if you will. And to Chenmi. Just because something is stupid, dangerous, difficult and illeagal dosnt mean the guberment wont through massive resources and man power at it. Youshould be concerned.
