Thinking Ahead - Senate Trial Of Trump

First off, the House as a body has not voted yet on impeachment of Mr. Trump however I was pondering on what will happen if he is impeached and the show moves over to the Senate.

The way I see it is there are two possible options. The Turtle (McConnell)....

1)  Will have The Trial Show done in a very short amount of time. Not unlike a quarterback on the winning
     side taking a knee with only 60-seconds left in the game, or
2) The Trial Show will go on for weeks and weeks with the end goal of making public all of the Democrats
     dirty laundry and acquitting Trump as a bi-product in the process.

I am in the process of writing an article on this subject and I would like to get this groups input.

 Didn't McConnell say he might throw it out because there is no evidence of a crime. Also Lindsey said the trial will be quick without any witnesses called. The President said he will go with ever McConnell feels is best.

Yes on all points JoJo. So you are in the fast and done camp.

There is another thing to think about. The Contempt of Congress thing may be thrown out before the trial begins by Chief Justice Roberts. The reason being, the SCOTUS has agreed to rule on a another lower court ruling about Executive Privilege. I suspect that the charge of Contempt of Congress charge can not go forward while the Executive Privilege case is being argued at the Supreme Court.

 Is it possible that if the Chief Justice who will be overseeing the Senate Trial dismisses the charges that Adam Shiffless and Nadler can be charged with sedition or treason?

My gut feeling is that it will be quick.  I'm sure that all of the politicians are uneasy at the thought of a long trial, and not knowing where the trial could lead.  I'm sure they're also concerned about dragging it out because the American voting public is getting tired of the constant anti-Trump B.S. and getting tired of politics in general.  I, for one, am ready for a break from political news.  It seems that everything is politicized these days.

    I agree with Jojo too regarding the need for a trial for Schiff, Nadler and Pelosi with charges of sedition and treason.  I would add Hillary and Obama to the list too.

Then Dems decide to try something else, starting in early spring.  This gives Rs-- look, more wolf screaming and Ds saying but this time we got 'em good!

Ds figure more election mud to throw, Rs think more--  look at the lunatics armor to wear.

Yeah Kbop, #2 would be more fun but the lawyers in the Senate will prevail.

Looking at Article I, Section 3 - Clause 6 and 7 of the US Constitution, the Senates sole role is to "try" so in essence the Senators are jurors. It would be unheard of in a court case for the presiding judge to have the jurors ask questions of witnesses let alone summon them to do so.

I suspect, Chief Justice Roberts will throw out the Obstruction of Congress Article. As I have already mentioned, the SCOTUS has taken on the Executive Privilege question concerning Trump's tax returns. 

Last, if one or two of the articles wins and moves onto the Senate; this event will not become rare but common in the history of the United States and the Executive Branch.

Roberts cant be trusted, remember he caved and tossed the constitution out the window when ruling on obama care?
