Something Good in Last Budget
« on: December 21, 2014, 10:56:58 PM »
I just learned about these today and was a bit surprised at it.  With everything in there the last sentence here is about the best, IMHO.

    Pro-Gun Protections Enacted Into Law

    Posted on December 19, 2014

Last week, Congress approved the Fiscal Year 2015 Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act.  Included in the Act were a number of pro-gun provisions that prevent the Obama administration from implementing its anti-gun agenda.

This Act includes new provisions to stop the Obama administration’s efforts regarding Operation Choke Point, a program in which the Department of Justice intimidates financial institutions into refusing or severing financial services to legally-operating ammunition and firearms dealers.  In addition, the Act prohibits funds for the Internal Revenue Service to target groups for scrutiny based on their political beliefs, such as the NRA.

Further, the Act contains a new provision to prevent the Environmental Protection Agency, or any other federal agency, from regulating the lead content of traditional ammunition and fishing tackle.  For years, radical animal rights and environmental advocates have used all the tools at their disposal, including litigation, to attempt to ban lead ammunition.  A ban on traditional ammunition would affect hunters, sportsmen, law enforcement, military, and target shooters – whether or not they hunt.  There are currently no comparable alternatives to lead ammunition in terms of cost, ballistics, and availability.  This provision would prevent a traditional ammunition ban and protect not just hunters, but millions of law-abiding American gun owners.

Moreover, the Act contains a provision to prevent the Department of Justice, or any government entity, from spending taxpayer dollars on “gun walking” programs like Operation Fast and Furious. The Act also prevents funds being used by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or the National Institute of Health to advocate or promote gun control.

Finally, the Act prevents funds from being used by the Obama administration to implement the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.

Interesting.

I truly think that the next 24 months between the Executive and Congressional branches of our government is going to be very interesting for sure.

Stay tuned...

More overreach by the Rebumblingcans.  There's a reason we don't want excessive lead lying around - from our children's health to the health of the rivers we fish in and the forests we hunt in.  As always, this shameful limiting of the EPA will have long-term consequences to further damage what remains of our ecology.  Ugh.

Not to mention the petty, hateful, racist, and stupid desire to limit the President and his administration just because they don't like him.

I would like to share a story with the forum.

I don't go on FB too much and when I do I try to stay away from politics. With that said, I have a FB friend in LA who is a rather famous civil rights lawyer. I call her my L3 (Lesbian Liberal Lawyer) FB friend. We get into some great discussions on and off FB. In all honesty I have a great deal of respect for her.

This weekend she made a post of FB about the amount of threats she and her partner has received from a KKK guy whom she refused to represent. I reminded her that it was time for her to start carrying her Glock. She replied that she would in a heart-beat BUT she is not allowed to carry concealed and was going to her CCW interview in August of 2015.

This is a great example of "over reach" by .gov.

Before you say, "I would just carry anyway - Phuk the laws." Keep in mind that if she was caught or used the weapon to defend her or her family's rights, she would at the bare minimum loose her livelihood, e.g debarred.

I wonder if she regrets her past voting record now that the black cloud of fear is over her?
Would be funny if all the people that have voted to take away our gun rights find themselves needing a gun and cannot have one.

Oh no DMC, she only regrets her past voting record on the 2A to a degree:facepalm:

Honestly, she is a big Elizabeth Warren supporter for 2016  :lmfao: Her version of 2A is everybody should be allowed to carry or woen as long as they are part of the "anointed of society". She has told me that even though I am an extremist (Old JohnyMac an extremist  :o  :what: ) I should be allowed to own a gun because I could probably pass a background check.

On another note: I have a rather eclectic group of friends that ranges from hard core Communists to bomb throwing Anarchists. I find that both extreme ends of this spectrum think they are "anointed." Their crap doesn't stink and when everything goes their way through civil war or a re-set lets say; Nobody would dare to harm them because they are anointed and smarter than everybody else.  :hippie:

What ever....  ;)

JM, I am working on the list.  She is not annointed.  Most of your friends are not either.  But I have not gotten to you yet.  I gotta tell ya, going down that list and making that determination for everyone is a tough job, but I can do it.  You all just relax, I will get to everyone in time.

No, I am not an Annointed One.  I am the Annointing One.

Seems you consider that funny and give it no credence.  You go to the back of the line.
