This sounds a lot like what occurred in history in Nazi Germany and Stalin's USSR.
"A new $1 million dollar program led by Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw aimed at "violence prevention" is encouraging Floridians to report their neighbors for making hateful comments about the government, a chilling reminder of how dissent is being characterized as an extremist threat."
"Bradshaw makes it clear that the kind of behavior which could prompt a visit from the authorities includes anti-government political statements that may be deemed a prelude to violent action."
"The program will also include "public service announcements to encourage local citizens to report their neighbors," reports the newspaper."

I'll bet this ties in hand to hand with this email alert I recieved today.
The anti-gun bill we've been warning you about, HB-1355 has passed your State Senate and is on the Governor Rick Scott's desk for approval.
If a gun owner is voluntarily committed for a mental health issue and the doctor feels they might be a danger to themselves or others, they will forfeit their gun rights.
This is even if the physician recommends outpatient treatment for the condition.
The doctor would then give the law-abiding gun owner a written notice saying they will be losing their gun rights, whether they AGREE to treatment or not!
Not only will this bill assure more law-abiding Floridians lose their right to keep and bear arms WITHOUT DUE PROCESS, even mental health experts are warning of its' dangers.
"It is singling out people who have mental illness and are seeking out treatment voluntarily," exclaimed the CEO of the Mental Health Association of Palm Beach County, "My fear is that people who need help aren't going to seek it out, cause nobody wants to be on a database."
I need your help right away to stop this gun-grabbing legislation in Florida.
Please contact Governor Rick Scott and urge him to VETO anti-gun HB-1355.
Tell him not to sign off on this key element of billionaire-playboy New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's gun control agenda.
Only YOUR pressure can convince Governor Scott to veto this bill.
Thank you for taking action right away.

He's good to go. Hating rabbits wasn't mentioned as a reason for an official visit. ;D

Well, a shrink would call it "rabbit phobia" which would make it fall under the mental health umbrella. He's fucked.

Now, technically I think it began with the governor of Comiefornia passing gun confiscation this week. This shit for brains is just following suit on the East Coast.
-
I'm not worried about it, I don't fly flags round here. My two are buried about 5 feet down with a browning high power and a colt 1911 stacked on top of um. No one round here knows anything about me. Just the way I like it.

They took $24 million from the DROS funds to hire new state agents to confiscate guns from people with criminal backgrounds and mental illness. People who I'm guessing shouldnt have passed the background test anyway. Thats the way I've interrepted it.
BTW: Jerry Brown is saying that $24 million was surplus funds . . . in a state thats broke.

Oh ok.. Yeah... I will not support confiscating guns from felons until laws that are uncostitutional stop being enforced to make good americans felons. Bassically anyone could end up on this list.
-
Let me go one step further actually. Once you serve your time you deserve to have all of your rights back.

Mentally ill in the eyes of a liberal doctor is loving traditional America.

I think the "mentally ill" will be those labeled with depression and anxiety disorders. I've known people who've suffered from severe depression and I'd still trust them with a firearm over most sheeple. California has a horrible tendency of setting a standard for the rest of the nation. If they set the precedent of confiscating from those who suffer from something as simple as an anxiety disorder we're in big trouble.

Agreed WWR. The point im trying to make is these doctors also have political views. And theyll label as many people as unfit to trust with a gun as possible. I am quite certain an anxiety attack will be all the reason they need. Rest assured these very vague descriptions of what constitutes loss of gun rights will be provided for them. Theyll just be "doing their job".
What im really worried about is them saying being on "X" medication makes you unsafe to own a gun. Similar to operating heavy machinery. Well.. Im not worried... But i see it happening.

Need I say more? This is a civilian disarmament agenda.
CDC: Half of Americans will suffer from mental health woes
http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/health/medical/health/medical/mentalhealth/story/2011-09-05/CDC-Half-of-Americans-will-suffer-from-mental-health-woes/50250702/1 (http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/health/medical/health/medical/mentalhealth/story/2011-09-05/CDC-Half-of-Americans-will-suffer-from-mental-health-woes/50250702/1)
EDIT: I find myself wondering if the 50% of Americans that will suffer from mental illness that the CDC talks about are the 50% that votes conservative, believes in the Bible, or is a military veteran. You know, those same people that the DHS says are potential terrorists.

Good point Ken. You could also say someone NOT being on a medication might cost them their firearms. For instance you go in to your doctors and he bullshits around with you a little bit about the news. You say something negative and he drops a comment about your mood like "You ever feel depressed?" Or maybe you say you're "having a tough time" and he suggest it. Next thing you know those notes are shared with the police dept. and BAM! Knock on your front door. Kind of like the folks in the news who wanted a second opinion regarding their child and ended up having police take the baby. Supposedly we still have freedoms. Anyone seen them lately?

I would wager its a big chunk of their claim.
