The most powerful Democrat in the U.S. Senate, Chuck Schumer of New York, screamed at a high-profile Trump supporter in a Manhattan restaurant, according to sources.
While dining at the upscale Upper East Side restaurant Sette Mezzo, Schumer ran into Joseph A. Califano, Jr. and his wife, Hilary, who were enjoying dinner at another table.
The Califanos are a high-profile couple in New York society: Joe Califano had served as Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare under President Jimmy Carter, and had also served as an adviser to President Lyndon B. Johnson. Hilary Califano is a New York socialite, the daughter of late CBS founder and chairman William S. Paley, Jr.
However, despite her husband being a high-profile Democrat, Hilary Califano is a lifelong Republican. And she voted the party line in 2016: for President Donald Trump.
For some reason, Schumer felt enraged and betrayed by Hilary Califano’s vote—and attempted to verbally humiliate and harass them in the luxurious Manhattan eatery.
A witness explained that, “[The Califanos] are a highly respected couple, and Schumer made a scene, yelling, ‘She voted for Trump!’ The Califanos left the restaurant, but Schumer followed them outside.”
The witness added that Schumer continued to scream at the couple, even as they hustled away from the restaurant—apparently shouting, "How could you vote for Trump? He’s a liar!” He continued to scream, “He’s a liar,” repeatedly after the couple.
Hilary Califano confirmed the shocking exchange to the New York Post’s Page Six gossip column.
“Sen. Schumer was really rude,” she told the Post. “He’s our senator, and I don’t really like him. Yes, I voted for Trump. Schumer joined us outside and he told me Trump was a liar.”
She added: “I should have told him that Hillary Clinton was a liar, but I was so surprised I didn’t say anything.”
Despite both fellow diners and Hilary Califano confirming Schumer’s appalling behavior, Schumer’s office denies that anything out-of-the-ordinary happened: “Schumer and his wife ate at the café on Sunday, engaging in unremarkable conversation with patrons who approached their table. There were no heated exchanges with anyone.”
However, Schumer’s office has denied any allegations that the senator engaged in a confrontation at the restaurant.
“There were no heated exchanges with anyone,” a Schumer spokesperson told the Post. “[He] and his wife ate at the café on Sunday, engaging in unremarkable conversation with patrons who approached their table.”

The reason might be that the place is so upscale no-one would dare upset protocol. The restaurant doesn't take any form of payment, they send you a bill at the end of the month. Now that is upscale.

The question to ask is how could senator Shumer afford such a place.

Instead of "senator", he (and the rest of congress) need to be referred to as "public servants", which is what they are but seem to have forgotten

Grizz has a great point. Maybe instead of referring to the members of Congress as Senator or Representative X maybe we need to call them "employee X".
I ain't in a good mood tonight. The kind of mood where a neck-tie party would be appropriate in my way of thinking.

Shumer did not "go crazy mad." He just let what has been there for years show to all who looked.

I've really been considering getting a body cam to add to my EDC. Something to covertly record local politicians and activists being dirty. Phone cams are to slow on the draw IMO. Tactically, James O'keefe has the right idea.
