The Echo is loud

Hi all,

I was talking to one of my troops from ou time in Panama. 1990s time frame.

He asked me about a good amount of things he has heard about the UK. Like the Muslims taking over places where police refuse to go.

The thing is, I had to tell him that the rumours were wrong. It never happened.

That got me thinking.

I am not Knocking anyone here. I am just trying to warn that there are many sources of info out there that are plain wrong. Even worse if we are not careful we can find ourselves limited to listening to only the voices in a limited echo chamber.

Over time, I have seen many predictions quoted from different sources. That have not come to fruition. I am not saying to ignore things.

I only say that there are an increasing number of pundits that count on clicks to make their money that we Conservatives may listen to. The whole  lesson of not taking mainstream media as gospel is smart. They are biased.  We need to be cautious of other sources also. There is bias in all spaces we can get info from.

"In war, the FIRST casualty is truth."

Unfortunately, someone (or some thing) is at  'war' with us.  There are many sources of unvetted 'information' , generally a mix of truth and falsehoods and each driving a particular agenda.  However, even when some story agrees with our predispositions, it is VERY important to - as much as possible - investigate these tall tales, to strain the true from the false . This is the very definition of intelligence analysis.

Think, then do.

Something I read a long time ago and has always stuck with me, and is applicable to just about anything on the internet- when faced with a hypothesis, do not accept it at face value, but try to disprove it- only then can you determine its worth.

That's cool. Nobody needs to take my word for it.

All I did was report my observations from living here as part of the UK society.

Feel free to believe what you wish. Being on the ground here, I actually made the effort to look for the truth behind those rumours. I found that they were baseless. Things did not go down like the rumours were saying.

Sorry dude....

Evidently my reporting has rubbed you wrong. My apologies. I am assuming you mean no offence to me personally. I do so hope I am correct in this.

I know that there are many people that do not react well to having thier belief in certain narratives being challenged in any way. I find that unfortunate.

To make things clear. I have been living in the UK since 2004. I am well travelled and have lived and worked in a good many places. I also keep a good eye on what is happening here in this society. From ALL sources of info.

The rumours my friend asked me about were huge exaggerations made by people with distasteful agendas meant to divide society. People who are cherry-picking information to justify their prejudicial agendas.

Believe what you wish. I did state in my post that I am not criticising anyone here on this forum. I led with this. For the life of me I do not understand the vitriol coming my way. Here in a forum that touts itself on being  place where Conservatives of all types can share their prepper related views and news openly in a welcoming environment.

If this thread has upset anyone. Take a moment to consider why it has. Is it possible that anyone is upset because I dampened an echo in an echo chamber?

I dont know why you think I'm attacking you, all I tried to do is point out that you are doing everything you claim others are doing. This is a civil conversation and you seem to be offended by my point of view, thats fine, I won't lose sleep over other peoples views when they disagree with me
