Primary Political Landscape In Florda
« on: January 22, 2012, 03:26:11 PM »
This is to answer JohnyMac's question about what is happening in the Florida Primary so far.

So far the only ad's I've seen are Pro Romney/ anti Gingrich ads.  They are on air all through the day and evening.  This is in the Central East Coast of Florida so I'm not sure what is playing in other areas of the state.  There are several large ad markets here in different parts of the state.

It looks like Paul isn't going to compete in Florida with ads or visits.  He's strategy is to be frugal and work on caucus states.

Romney is now looking to release his tax info and will announce that on Tuesday.

Gingrich will have an uphill battle in Florida because the establishment on both sides of the aisle are terrified of him for their own reasons.  He's going to be blasted from both sides.  Plus his statement that he strongly supports Paul's thoughts on the Federal Reserve means an unlimited amount of money will be spent to make sure he doesn't get the nomination.

About his only saving hope is that the Florida Tea Party is apparently behind him.

I haven't seen anything on Santorum in Florida yet.  I do know both he and Paul gave what were probably their best speeches to date the evening Gingrich won the South Carolina primary.  If you missed them I'll just say they were both impressive.  Which was a real surprise for me.  I was like, "Why have you guys been holding back on this kind of stuff?"  They were both passionate and smooth in their deliveries while making some great points in what their vision of the country was.

My bet is that Santorum is going to suddenly find that he has tons of money thrown at him in Florida so he can put up an effective campaign to split the conservative vote and keep Gingrich from winning in Florida.  The same strategy that was used in 2008 to make sure Thompson was able to thwart Huckaby in SC giving the win to McCain.

The process continues.

Awesome report Sledge...Thx.

IMO, Florida is such an important state along the east coast of the US. The reason being that there is such a cross representation of the country living there. It use to be CA. now it is FL.

I have to concur with Sledge, A lot of Mittens and Getting Rich

But from the peoples point of view. I have seen Ron Paul shit EVERYWHERE cars, buildings, over passes. I think even when he skips FL he has a good chance. Especially in my county. Like I said I'm seeing that shit everywhere.

Thought I would update this.  Three days left and then the primary.

These are the ads I've tracked (seen) today.

9 - Romney endorsed ads

28- Anti Newt ads run by multiple pacs.

4 -  Pro Gingrich Ads run by pac.

0 - Santorum ads. ( I did see 1 yesterday)

0 - Paul ads.

Countless statements and segments on FOX attacking Gingrich or glorifying Romney.

I've never seen the Republican establishment attack one of their own at this level.  They must be terrified of what would happen to the status quo if Gingrich gets the nomination.  They are spending whatever it takes to kill Gingrich's chances before he leaves Florida.  I apparently was wrong in my thoughts that they would fund Santorum to make sure Romney beats Gingrich.  They must have decided that filling the airwaves with attack ads would be enough to do it.

Get ready for another moderate, Romney, to be the Republican nominee.  Get ready for four more years.

Thanks Sledge for the update.

Santorum moved onto PA. after Thursday's press conference (Debate). My brother told me last night that he is running a lot of ads there.

I am not a Newt supporter as you know; however I am blown away how the Republican establishment is attacking one of their own. Personally if I lived in FL. and I knew that Santorum wasn't going to win, I would vote for Newt just to spite the GOP.  ;)

Yeah, I agree JM.  The Republican establishment is definitely working on it's own agenda.  Which seems to be the status quo for themselves.  Palin came out with a facebook  statement which kind of describes it.

"What we saw with this ridiculous opposition dump on Newt was nothing short of Stalin-esque rewriting of history. It was Alinsky tactics at their worst."---- Sarah Palin, via Facebook

Until people in this country realize that the Establishment GOP is just as bad as the Establishment Democrats, nothing in this country is EVER going to change, except that we are going to get more and more of a police state, and more socialism as well.

(sarcasm ahead)  Sounds like someone has rejected their Limbaugh induced trance.  Quick, someone get this man some fluoride....So that maybe the libtards can salvage what's left.

LOL Fuck Limbaugh and the rest of them.  Fuck Boortz too for being a Lipstick Libertarian.

Also, I've had enough fluoride in my day, and I'm still as awake as ever.  LOL

I blame my parents, the media, and the public education system for the fact that I ever voted for a Republican, ever.  I actually used to believe there was a difference between the two parties.  Now I realize one gives your more Socialism, the other just gives your more Authoritarianism.

I used to find Boortz entertaining but never bought his fascist in libertarian's clothing BS.  But as of about two years ago, I started developing a seething hatred for him.
