I don't foresee our family purchasing an electric vehicle in the near future. The supporting infrastructure isn't there yet, and neither is the vehicle range. I do like e-bikes, however.
As you say Johny, this administration is totally tone deaf, manned entirely by beltway insiders, who don't know or understand rural America. Current e-vehicles may be fine in Europe or China, where towns and villages are close together, so hopefully, charging stations are close together. Planners and policy makers need to be shackled to an e-vehicle for a few cross country trips and see how well the current charging infrastructure works. Range anxiety is a real thing.
One of my neighbors had a Nissan Leaf loaner car for a couple of weeks. He drove it to Knoxville (about an hour's ride), and had to recharge it in order to make it home. Most gas powered vehicles would be able to make the same trip a couple of times, without refueling. The technology just isn't there yet for those of us that reside in rural areas. (Never mind the lack of supporting electrical infrastructure.
