Police: Robber Dies After Being Shot By Homeland Security Officer

I wonder how many Homeland Security Officers we have roaming the streets keeping us safe?  I haven't seen one but my wife saw a SUV with Homeland Security on it while driving to work a couple of weeks ago.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A man who was dressed as a woman when he tried to rob a West Palm Beach McDonald's on Friday night died after he was shot by a Homeland Security Officer, police said.
Investigators said the man tried to rob a McDonald's at 2400 Okeechobee Boulevard at about 11:30 p.m. Friday, but was confronted by the officer.
Police said the officer fought off the robber and shot him in the leg.
The man was taken in critical condition to St. Mary's Medical Center, where he later died, police said.
The incident was under investigation, police said.

i dont think he was on the clock... he was just off duty in the right place at the right time. homelend security can be a number of different types of agents including border patrol.

Yeah, I guess being as this is in Florida it could have been a Coast Guard guy as well.  I wish the news piece gave more info.  I would love to know if the guy dressed as a woman was wearing a burka and being trailed.

sounds like a wonderful piece of propaganda to get people used to "Homeland Security" being everywhere to protect them.  No more police, well aside from writing tickets and generating revenue.  I agree that its probably just a coincidence that it occurred as it did, but you cant dispute the way the article was written is a little leaning lol.

You know when we lived in Florida it wasn't the safest place in the country and due to the economy I am sure it is even worst.

I remember after Hurricane Andrew my wife and I were visiting friends in Florida- Miami to be specific. We had visited our friends and were heading to I 95 to go the the hotel. As I approached a stop light 20+ people came out of no where and started to beat and rock the car already stopped at the light.

I pulled the steering wheel left, hit the accelerator, leaned on my horn and shot through the intersection. Made a right onto 95 and headed north at a quick pace.

I have read that it is worst them post Andrew. Take care there Sledge.

It's not much different than anywhere else.  You just have to remain alert to what is going on around you.  I've lived here awhile and between working in citrus where everyone knows everyone else, running the Walmart here, and my militia days most people know me or have heard of me.  Not too many would want to get cross ways with me so I don't worry about that too much.  I do worry about my kids though.  But they're pretty level headed, except for one liberal daughter, and I've taught them how to defend themselves so hopefully they'll never have any issues they can't get out of.
