On this day 18 years ago, a battle began in Mogadishu Somalia that would claim the lives of 19 US soldiers. Forever remembered as Black Hawk Down, the 16+ hour firefight would have a direct impact on US military policy for the next decade.

I could elaborate, but I'm fairly certain we all know this story.
