T-Mobil Will Fine You For hate Speech

T-Moble has quietly updated their TOS to include fines for content they don?t agree with. Beginning on January 1, 2024, they will be fining users who commit perceived violations on their bandwidth. Who knew in America that the phone providers would now be policing the content of your text messages to fine you. S.H.A.F.T. is an acronym that stands for Sex, Hate, Alcohol, Firearms, and Tobacco. It outlines the categories of text messages specifically regulated due to moral and legal issues and is monitored and enforced by the Cellular Telephone Industries Association (CTIA) and the mobile carriers. Who gets to determine what is and isn?t ?hateful?? Will political text messages be censored now as well going into 2024? This is what

Wonderful news!
Like with Disney, Bud Light, Target, etc.
We get to vote with our dollars for another candidate!
Dominion and teams of mules might have stolen our ballot voting.
But wallets get a chance to be heard in yet another venue.
Yes, T-Mobil may be a "leader" in this latest move to control the herd.
Let's see how stockholders reward/punish accordingly.

It does not seem to affect T-Mobile customers, directly. Or at least "customers" like most people will think of them. Meaning "customers" like folks who have a T-Mobile cell phone.

Those that are affected are those businesses/groups that buy bulk sections of the T-Mobile network to either market to T- Mobile customers or send bulk messages.  An example might be a Bank ABC, that buys a short code (a 6-digit text number) and a block of bulk data on T-Mobile's network to send 50,000 Text messages a day to customers. If they sent text messages that violated those policies, then the fine would be assessed against their account.

It also looks like it affects Resellers of T-Mobile's services, i.e. those other cell companies that you might get a cell phone from that "use" T-Mobile's network. However, it does not appear to affect the consumer customers of the resellers, just the resellers.

The T-Mobile Code of Conduct is available here: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/public-files/attachments/T-Mobile%20Code%20of%20Conduct.pdf

Is this a curtailment of the 1st Amendment?  Sure, but at a Company level, not at the end-user level.  Fines do NOT apply to the end-user.

Thank you Jacklope for the clarification.

Me....

Starting with the Tucker Carlson firing over at FoxNews, MrsMac and I have been slowly divesting ourselves when it comes to basic communications.

> We went with Skylink and killed our internet provider.
> Cut the cable.
> Picked up a very basic streaming package with programs that MrsMac likes.
> Put up a TV antenna, so we can watch local programing, e.g. weather, PBS, football, etc.
> Hand picked pay for streaming channels like, Glenn Beck, NewsMax, Bill O' Reilly, etc. Then of course we have
   Prime/Paramount for movies and such.

All n' all I am not saving much from before. About $50- a month, however, I am in control, in a minor way sticking it to "the man", and that $600- I save annually can go to ammo.  :gunner:

Next, is to drop my Verizon cell phone and go with something like Patriot Mobil. I know that my coverage in my part of the state will suffer, however, more and more when I travel about, my cell phone is turned off and in a Faraday bag anyway. This does drive MrsMac and some of my friends crazy.  :lmfao:

Concerning T-Mobil; today fines for corporations, tomorrow fines on you. It's a slippery slope. Verizon, AT&T, etc. will follow.
