Yeah that cop is awesome, its been all over the net lately.  Too bad SC arguably has some of the most screwed up Gun Laws in the South, ie, a Georgian cannot carry there.  BS.

I am forced to travel to SC very often.  I have to walk around unarmed.  Pisses me off.

Anyway, that Sheriff has the right attitude, and I wish all Sheriff's in America would take his stance as well.  I mean publicly take the stance, not just behind close doors.

Also, don't forget to hit up the concealed carry survey as well!

I lived in GA (on the SC state line) most of my life and know exactly what your talking about with SC concealed carry laws, they totally blow.  I even took and passed the "SC Concealed Carry Class" (because GA doesn't offer one) to use the certificate to apply for my FL permit, but was still not eligible to obtain a SC permit.
There are two ways I know of for a non resident to carry concealed in SC.  [1] Move to a state that has reciprocity with SC.... or a lesser know method is [2] Getting your name on a property deed/title in SC will make you eligible for the SC permit.  There is no limit to the number of names that can be listed on a title, therefore, you and any number of family, friends and acquaintances can pool together and purchase a small, cheap, unimproved piece of swamp land and have an attorney make it all legit.  If you do this right, you might be able to do this for only a few hundred dollars (each) plus the cost of getting the permit.

I've certainly given that a lot of thought since my entire side of the family lives in SC.
